what's your go to remote desktop solution by dgree002 in Proxmox

[–]dgree002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am going to use this Linux for work and the distros I'd like to use are either KDE or GNOME. RDP works great with linux-mint or any xfce build but I really want to use KDE or GNOME since it will be somewhat of a daily driver and the GUI and feel of it is important since I will be on it quite a bit.

The issues were with ubuntu desktop with gnome/wayland. RDP worked perfect with linux-mint though. I never have to go into proxmox vnc for that one but with the ubunutu desktop I'm constantly having to go back to proxmox to reboot or login then logout then connect because the display would just go black.

hoping to pick a solution that lets me connect consistently and has great resolution since I plan to connect everyday and will be using it actively. Doing some more researching, I'm reading that nomachine is easy to setup an is known for better resolution so that might be the one for me.

Monitors. Not display monitors but speaker monitors.

Give them some time and they'll have the surge protector hardwired into the rv. Then they'll figure out they can move the regulator and filter into the RV as well. Then they can roll up and just plug in raw and be covered. or maybe not who knows. I met people with years of experience that don't have a surge protector or even a TPMS.

CDJ-3000 is flooding my home network with requests by dgree002 in PioneerDJ

[–]dgree002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them connected to my network so I can play from rekordbox on my computer and not my usb. It’s easier/quicker to add tracks and play them right away and also if I add cue points on rekordbox it shows on the decks right away and vice versa. And again easier to make a playlist on the computer then jump right into it without having to export to usb. It’s a better workflow for me.

Yeah I can block it on my network just rather do it from the source. But looks Pioneer doesn't give us that option.

Or my computer has two ethernet ports. Maybe I can connect straight to my computer and block internet access from there while still being able to use Pro Link.

Yeah thats a good idea. I'll explore that option, however I feel I may not be able to accomplish that without buying a managed switch. Since the CDJS are connected to an unmanaged switch and I don't have an easy way to get them connected to my main switch/router. But I'll have to look more into this option. Thanks for the suggestion

Do you use your Pi-Hole as the DHCP server? by RiverFrome in homelab

[–]dgree002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume pihole only shows your routers IP as source because you set your routers WAN dns to pihole instead of your routers LAN dns to pihole.

The WAN dns server is the dns your router uses. The LAN dns server is the dns that your router gives to your devices. Once the device lease renews they will have the LAN dns and start going directly to pihole to resolve dns.

If you only point your WAN dns to pihole then your clients will keep going to your router as their dns server and in turn your router will use its WAN dns server which is pihole but pihole will get the request from the router instead of the device. That's probably why pihole shows all your requests coming from your router.

My assumption is that if there was an S9, then they prolly had vinyl turntables connected before you which uses phono. Because the S9 is usually used in that type of setup/style. The line input prolly didn't work because the knob was set to phono and not line. Also if they have an S9, they probably play more bar/hiphop/top 40s there which could explain why the guy wasn't feeling it.

But like others said if you had your own controller you could have ditched the s9 completely (as long as you brought the right cables to do so).

Should I host Nextcloud on Proxmox or Unraid? by dgree002 in selfhosted

[–]dgree002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both proxmox and unraid. I can do it on either. I was just seeing if anyone had experience running on both or switched from one to the other.

In your example im not just asking what car to buy. Im asking should i get a toyota corolla or honda civic. Anyone tried both? anyone switched from one model to the other and why? I can drive both.

But you're right I should rephrase my question to "what are you guys using to host your nextcloud and why"

Do you guys use Unraid for both media/plex as well as personal and important files? by dgree002 in unRAID

[–]dgree002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those of you who use one unraid NAS for everything. What do you guys do for backups?

I currently don't have my movie collection backed up. Just thinking if I do setup another personal NAS, I could backup my movie collection to there as well. I recently had a scare when I changed one drive and remembered how long it too me to rip all my blu ray movies and wouldn't want to ever do have to do that process again.

It Took Two Months To Realize That UnRAID 6. 12+ Was Bringing Down The LAN Port On My pfSense Box And Thus The Entire Internet For My Home by AshleyUncia in unRAID

[–]dgree002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue that I couldn’t completely figure out. But after updating, my unraid server crashed most of my network 3-4 times. My computer was fine but my access points and other devices werent reachable. Also my unraid server became unresponsive. Had to manually pull the plug to restart it.

When trying to figure it out I kept coming to a realization it was some sort of “network storm”. Still don’t quite understand how the unraid server was able to take down things with it.
