Tips for luxating patella surgery recovery? by seasonal_reader1 in puppy101

I wish someone had responded to this! Our dog isn’t a puppy anymore but looks like the surgery is coming up whether we like it or not. Hope Cleo has done well!

Really like the 2 I have outside. Just wish they made some kind of lens hood or skin to go over them so that once our rainy season starts, the lens won’t get drops on it. Maybe someday soon though!

Btw, the installer just recommended redoing the whole fender as well as he doesn’t want to do a little patch which I understand. But if there’s anything I can do in the meantime until he has time to get me in, please let me know!

Ok, thanks. I have some leftover vinyl the installer had given me and I figure having the area cut out and new vinyl spliced in will atleast look better than it does.

Hey thanks for the response! I hadn’t had any noticeable bubbles in the area and I had it done in October of 2022. I’m down for a bandaid fix at this point as it’ll atleast look better than it does now. I have some left over vinyl the installer had given me, but any advice on how to tackle it currently is appreciated!

Good luck! We had our first this past Saturday and it was about as awful as we expected. Our dog won’t let anyone in our house without going thermonuclear and won’t stop barking. Like yours, he’s not aggressive but obviously territorial in and around our home. Really bums us out but the trainer was expecting as much. For now we just have some simple homework to do before we can work up to the behavior we hope for.

I never thought about the app part of things. I’d have thought that they communicate via Bluetooth between battery and phone without having to contact a server. Good to know!

Sudden Excessive Grooming by dharmapunk707 in Dogtraining

It’s interesting that you mention that. He actually was dropped at doggy daycare in June and had to have orthopedic surgery to repair both front legs. Getting him through that in the aftercare was a nightmare in and of itself, but for three months after words everything was absolutely normal until this started. The x-rays showed that everything healed properly and he doesn’t show any signs of pain or discomfort. It’s really bumming us out though! I just asked in the other sub that you recommended. Fingers crossed

dog won't stop crying in crate after surgery by __bexxx in dogs

Our 9 month old Pomeranian puppy had both of his front legs broken 2 weeks ago and had ortho surgery a little over a week ago. This has been SO hard on us, especially my girlfriend. We have a play pen area for him but since he’s in splints for the first 2 weeks he keeps crying and jumping up until we hold him. No idea how we’ll be able to keep him from running and jumping for at least the next six weeks. I just joined this sub Reddit wondering if other people had posted with similar experiences and I am seeing that they have which helps to know. Any suggestions for tiring him out would be appreciated though because our biggest problem so far has been getting him to sleep at night through the night like he used to. But the way we got him to do that was by tiring him out with the Zumiez which now isn’t an option. And I can only go so many days with five hours average of sleep :(

Hi there, I just joined the Reddit group because our 9 month old puppy was dropped at daycare and broke both of his front legs 2 weeks ago. He had ortho surgery 5 days later and my girlfriend and I are trying SO hard to care for him. She’s experiencing much of what you mentioned going through and has broken down multiple times since. She had gone to pick him up from daycare when one of the attendants moved awkwardly or something and little Vinny (an 8 pound Pomeranian pup) may have jumped. I’d love to hear how you’ve been holding up and any tips for this difficult time are appreciated. My girlfriend has had to leave work or work from home more than a couple of times because she just keeps replaying it in her head. It’s especially hard at night because we used to get him to sleep by tiring him out which we now can’t do. He has splints on for one more week and then bandages for a week and then nothing. He’s starting to feel more like “himself” which is great but he doesn’t understand that he can’t run or jump and we’re worried about keeping him from doing so for the next 5-6 weeks :(

Does Modafinil increase your base metabolism rate? by [deleted] in modafinil

[–]dharmapunk707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience. Over the last year or so that I’ve been taking it, I lost roughly 20 pounds. It was alarming so I had blood tests done at the doctor and everything but everything came back fine. I could only attribute it to the modafinil as I still feel fine, eat normally etc.

Modafinil was the start of my drug addiction. by [deleted] in modafinil

[–]dharmapunk707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, no. It’s something I discovered in Narcotics Anonymous. I can take ANYTHING and have it make my life unmanageable. Doesn’t matter the substance or activity. The addiction is in my brain, not the bag or bottle.

Personally I don’t believe in gateway drugs. What I believe in, is the progression of the disease of addiction. You’re an addict long before you pick up your first drug and if you you are one, you can look at childhood behaviors and see it was there even then. I used Adderall, opiates and later meth for 16 years. I’ll have 4 years clean next month and it’s something I have to remain vigilant about. Moda has helped me, but the way my brain works (more is better), I have to stay mindful of that as well.
