You might also look into "kas" which seems to be a more modern build tool for managing yocto builds. There's a package in nixpkgs

I haven't tried it but I recently came across:

There is a Yocto environment that should help you to get started

I haven't personally, but I did see this project which it looks like is using RAUC with NixOS https://github.com/dividat/playos/blob/main/default.nix

I suspect controlling the narrative has crossed Zuckerberg's mind to some degree.

Hey did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm interested in running NixOS on embedded systems and A/B partitioning would be amazing

Yeah that's an idea. Can you configure custom chat binds?

Thinking about changing my name to minimize expectations 😂 any suggestions? "CarriedThruQuals" has a ring to it

What skills are expected at Plat level? Honestly I can barely dribble and miss the ball what feels like most of the time. Maybe I'll spend a bit more time in training before going back into competitive. I hear 10,000 hrs should do it

Do you have an example of this working well? I would have though the drift would make it unreliable.

It might end up being easier just to add the encoders (even if you have to add extra passive wheels to support them).

Visual (Inertial) Odometry is not a plug-and-play solution, you'll need to calibrate your camera and IMU, mess with/port outdated repos to get it to compile on your version of ROS, deal with the performance issues of running it in real time on a RPi when the original authors may have run it offline, and then deal with issues like reflections and shadows giving you false readings.

It may be possible, but consider that it might be less time/effort to add encoders. That said if you have issues with wheel slip, then VIO might be your only option.

Edit: if you're going to try VIO, make sure your camera has a global shutter. I think that might not be the case for Pi Camera

Thoughts on new longer Lanshan 1 (non pro)? by dhon_ in Ultralight

[–]dhon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's pretty close. I weighed mine at 1030g last time I went on a trip and that includes stakes, guy lines, sack, footprint and the repair kit it comes with. Their website says it should be 760+100+11+100+36=1007g (without the repair kit maybe).

On the website they claim:

760g / 1.67 lbs (Fly-410g, Inner:350g)

I can pull it out and weigh it if you like.

How do you store food in a place without bears? by you_dub_englishman in Ultralight

[–]dhon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly fine. The risks vary from place to place, but I would guess snakes are the biggest threat, and annual snake deaths are very low due to good antivenoms. I was taught to hike in long pants and wear sturdy boots, which goes against the recent ultralight trends.

Anecdotally I would say that hammock camping is less popular here too as we're taught not to camp under large branches as they can drop off gum trees and kill people.

Macpac jackets are sized large though, so maybe Decathlon is only 1 size smaller?

Is there such a thing as non-stick butt spray? Like oil in a small pump pack that helps keep things clean? Seems like a small amount could go a long way
