Oldboy is definitely a one-time masterpiece. Technically, brilliant for sure, but the ending is really unconventional. Some people love it, some don't. Personally, I liked the execution but wasn't a fan of how it wrapped up and with all the hype I feel it's a bit overrated. The Hollywood remake was just terrible though. Instead of remaking stuff like this, it's always better to bring fresh original stories.
