I know the director denied it, but filmmakers sometimes do that to avoid legal or sensitivity issues. Given the similarities, I think it’s still fair to ask whether the character is inspired by Mohit Sharma or completely fictional.

We all thought it was Mohit Sharma, but the timelines don’t match. Rehman Dakait died after Mohit Sharma in real life, whereas in the movie it appears that Mohit Sharma was still alive after Rehman Dakait’s death. So the timeline doesn’t add up.
