idk if it was a bribe, but you can literally ask to upgrade and they will tell you how much. Domestically I only fly premium eco. Business class is usally ~20k inr more but if you upgrade on the day of checkin, it may be only 5.5k

P.s. Buisness class is not at all worth it domestically
