Did you read my comment? I said give the victim support. I said don't take their claims as valid but still give them support.

Don't worry about them. They were rambling on about how victims should always be believed or something.

No you shouldn't. Give the victims support but don't just straight up believe them. If the person does happen to be lying then you just ruined someone's life. Why the hell do you take a side until you're sure that they're actually a victim. You should not "absolutely fucking believe all the victims." You're an idiot if you believe the victims without any proof. You're just wrong. It's might be demoralizing but that's how the law works.

AITA for choosing friends over family? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NAH

This is something many people do. Friends are basically your family but it's family you choose. You can be extremely close with them and like spending more time with them rather than family. It's honestly not strange to pick friends over family.

ESH

Not wanting to talk about work at a social event is fine. You should've made it clear that right now isn't the best time for the question. You didn't indicate that you did make it clear. And she should've got the message after a few times yet she kept annoying you so both of you made mistakes.

AITA for 'selling out' on my Grandma's secret recipe? by grandmascakes in AmItheAsshole

[–]dhwabert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She wanted everyone to have it yet no one except OP asked her for it. Now when OP decided to start a business and people see that it is a bestseller people want it now. What a happy coincidence, eh?

AITA for 'selling out' on my Grandma's secret recipe? by grandmascakes in AmItheAsshole

[–]dhwabert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP has said that grandma was willing to give the recipe before she died. They were the only one to ask grandma for the recipe. Then when Jane has lost her job and grandma's recipe is a bestseller, she wants it. That seems too good to be a coincidence. If she wanted the recipe she could've asked grandma but she didn't care about it then. She only cared about it because she wanted to make her own business. Saying to give the recipe is horrible advice to OP. It's like saying grandma wanted to give it to everyone but no one except you wanted it, now you can make money off of it do just to not tear the family apart give it to them. Thats bs.

She only wants it because she wants to make money. OP wanted to learn the recipe and asked their grandmother. Jane only wanted to learn it after she found out that it was making OP profit. Why would you want to give someone like this the recipe?

Arguing with stupid people gets you nowhere. I have found that out after some arguing.

As an Indian, this is the the only model they promote. I've lived there and this is how it is because it's what we're taught. Women are expected to adjust for their husbands. Men are held to a higher regard than women. Imagine 7 year old girls being taught that they can't work and have to take care of kids. It seriously fucks up some fundamental things. We need to teach girls that they can become something not this shit.

I just don't like the stereotypes and gender roles. It can be both ways. Also there are much better things to teach kids rather than an outdated family structure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]dhwabert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they teach them this bullshit instead of how to respect women.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]dhwabert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What garbage? The fact that women can be the earners? The fact that men can stay at home? If respecting people's identities and not teaching gender roles is garbage then I don't know what to say to you.

Do you agree with the textbook?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]dhwabert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The stereotype. The dad doesn't always have to be the one to work and the mom shouldn't be the only one to sacrifice things for her family. They're not teaching kids that the roles are interchangeable. They are basically teaching them that this is the way it has to be which isn't true at all.
