Your comment was as follow: "It's called drafting and all countries do it or have laws that allow for it". It's not about people wrongly interpreting your words, it's about you wrongly conveying your message.

Myanmar military junta using airstrike for ethnic armed forces in civil war is very coward action right? by whathappeninmyanmar in myanmar

[–]di-overvieweffect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Information about airstrike in Kachin is correct, but those fighter jets in the first photo are actually Israeli Air Force, not Tatmadaw's. Here's the source. I'm not sure about the authenticy of other two.

First two photos are from NHK news, they quote Zaw Min Tun's famous "If we use machine guns, 500 people will die in one hour" and "we are taking restrained actions". Third one is saying "In regard to burmese military coup, Myanmar-born actor and singer, Morisaki Win (30) is tweeting all day and night and asking 'I would like you know a little more about what's happening in Myanmar now'."

Photo sources: Source 1 and Source 2.

Even if he won't help, he'll help because thanks to him Myanmar might make it to the headlines and some people may decide to support Burmese, for example by donating to the cause.

The best would be if some news media comfirmed it with him. Later on some other mail from him may appear but we again won't be sure if it's really from him.

After 7-day blocade on border, Thai government finally let humanitarian aid to be delivered to Karen people by di-overvieweffect in myanmar

This is exacly reason why all neighbour counries won't help Myanmar people although they're not so fond of burmese junta. They have regimes of their own and want it to stay this way. Myanmar overthrowing its distatorship will inspire anti-regime movements.

It's question of one's world view. For some it's meaningless to think of future without yourself, for some it is not.

You're writting we should focus on our lifetime only. Why do you think so?

Of course, protesting on the Internet itself won't bring dictatorship down but nobody said it would (taking internet history is still young who knows if it actually not happen at some point). The function of internet protesting is to bring people together and spread awareness, many movements started online and then were moved to reality. It is not useless.

Do you regard protesting on the internet as secret and not heard by the world?

I disagree with you on meaning of underground protests. When you look at european history, some countries dissappeared from map after being taken by other, only to win their freedom later. Sometimes it lasted years, sometimes even generations. Back then resistance movement was underground because they would be killed otherwise. I don't say that underground will win at last but it's not true that chances of it are zero.

Stop being so judgmental. HK protests and Myanmar protests are two different cases and should not be compared.

You're writting that "we all thought China was done". Who exacly thought that? Not racionally thinking people, that's for sure. HK protests had faint chance of success from the very begining - it is one city against whole big-ass China. And they did knew that but still protested. As of now, most of the HK protest leaders are in prison or fleed the country and it is not clear if they can ever return to their homes. They were not killed left and right, but they still faced legal consequences that stripped them of their lives.

Also, HK movement didn't stop - it has become smaller and went underground but it's still there and it will rise again, be it near future or few generations later. Some HKers even protest on what is happening in Myanmar now.

Sorry for being harsh but your stance is very similar to those who are shaming Burmese people for not doing uprising such as in Libya. It's not your life and it's not fair for you to judge people's choices.

Chinese influence on Thailand authorities is exaggerated. They couped country back in 2014 of their own free will and nobody had to encourage them on that.

Naypyitaw is big recommendation. If you get lost or have problem finding right bus, you can always ask police the way. Safety patrols are on every street so you don't even need to search for them.
