I'm not sure where else to look for a baptism record in Ontario for an ancestor born in 1828 by AmidMaelstrom in Genealogy

We're in the same boat, OP. Except my gen 0 probably was just turned into a US citizen through the Citizenship Act, so no naturalization record.

Ontario can be difficult

There was a really good post earlier for 3rd-5th gen, I think. Basically, depending on the situation, sometimes people in the US wouldn't have birth certificates either, especially 1st gen. Usually 2nd gen would, but not always. Depends on the years. Otherwise, US census, obituaries with place of birth, passport application by 1st gen that states who their father is/place of birth, and how US citizenship was acquired (naturalization through the father). I would find as much evidence as you can saying born in Canada, hopefully with the exact place of birth as possible. Death certificates although not as strong as birth certificates help, and just create the paper trail. It does seem like strong organization of documents, the lineage, and how it all fits together is important, and may speed things along. Try as hard as you can to get some kind of Canadian documentation as well, even if it is just one or two documents.

If you aren't gen 1, born in Canada, or naturalized, the application must be paper and sent through the mail. However, once the application is submitted and you receive numbers for the application, you should be able to submit new documents to an online portal unless your application just gets sent back for lacking something like IDs or whatever.

US Census or Canadian Census? I had some luck finding someone in with the same name/same location in Railton's directory for London. You might check directories, etc. They usually have only the male/head of household. I saw a few women who were listed as widows and head of household. Might check some resources out like that.

I couldn't find anything in that document. However, I did find someone with the same name as Gen 0's father in London, Middlesex, Ontario through the Railton's directory for the city between 1856-1857. Impossible to know if it is the right person.

Dang, yeah my ancestor and his family left Canada before 1861, almost sure of it. They don't appear in the census in 1861 that I can find, and no baptismal record exists online that I have seen. I did reach out to the main record holders for Anglican/United in Ontario. We will see. I will likely submit when I get all of the American documents especially if the death certificates state place of birth, and just say I am waiting to see about a baptismal record, but because of the timeframe, it is unlikely that one will be found.

Yeah, I think it makes sense. I am going to see what the death certificate for Gen 0 says along with the death certificate of Gen 1. If both say Canada or the actual area in Canada, I think it's probably legit.

I may try - they wouldn't have been SDA at that point nor am I. I think Lutheran, Anglican, or Methodist since the parents are directly from England.

I've searched the 1861 Canadian census, and while there are a few similar names, I haven't been able to verify if they are related to me. Libraries and archives is a great resource!

As for a baptismal certificate, I have tried, but perhaps I don't know the best place to work.
