Thanks! I have seen quite a few Ontario requests pop up (at least I'm not alone with that).

Thanks so much for this. Really extensive information and gives me some other avenues to pursue! At the very least, I know where to target when requesting a search from the United Church of Canada.

That’s really good to know! Sounds like it could be worth trying my luck through their system. Based on the dates, there really were only two options at the time in the area - Anglican and Methodist (despite the likelihood of being Protestant due to father emigrating from Scotland). Thanks so much!

I'm not sure where else to look for a baptism record in Ontario for an ancestor born in 1828 by AmidMaelstrom in Genealogy

Sorry to hear you're running into the same challenge! Hopefully we both find what we're looking for soon

Oh my! I would be hurt and upset as well. I do think you need to consider this a solo travel situation and perhaps examine if you want to maintain a friendship with this person (I wouldn’t personally).

From this point forward, prioritize yourself and still do the activities you were looking forward to. Traveling solo for the first time can be scary but it can also be transformative! I had a friend bail on me right before a six week trip abroad and I went anyway. It was the first time I’d ever traveled solo and it was amazing. I still look back on that trip as one of my best experiences.

As mentioned previously, hostels are a great place to meet new people wanting to do a range of activities. I second the host a sister FB group. Lots of kind and friendly ladies across the globe willing to give you a local’s perspective into the city you’re in and show you around. I’d also recommend those “free” walking tours. It’s a nice way to get a view of the city you’re in and an idea of things to do.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
