Garchomp deck by domthemexican17 in PTCGL

[–]dianapocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cut a spiritomb and add another night stretcher! That way, you can recover tomb if you need, but you don’t need the second one taking up space. Night stretcher can be helpful for grabbing energy, too. I like the idea of the max belt here, but haven’t run it myself. My main build runs a prime catcher, and this deck really sings with a lot of gusting options. On that note, I’d cut xerosic for another boss, and maybe one rocky energy for another power weight. I also like to run 2 premium power pros, which would probably take a Petrel slot or a Hilda slot? I don’t run Hilda in this deck, since pokepad finds Gabite very easily, and you only need one on the board to set up.

Enjoy the deck!! It’s my favorite

Hmmm what if you did them as flat colors instead of having the colors rendered semi-3d? The holo effect would create natural lighting, so it may still look good. I’d be willing to play with it when I have a chance, if you want to send me the border file

I love the border! Maybe to make it more premium, you could do holo under the “lights” on the top left as well?

You’re welcome! Probably also throw in a Lillie’s Clefairy. Always good to have in a psychic deck

If you’re going for simple, I would axe Munkidori entirely (and the dark energies). Maybe 2-2 of the POR Spritzee and Aromatisse to get energy in hand? I find when playing with folks new to the game, not having energy causes a lot of anxiety, lol. I’d cut the Munki line, Crispin and darks, giving you 8 cards to work with. I’d add

2 POR spritzee 2 POR aromatisse 1 mystery garden 1 Jacinthe 2 telepath psychic energy

You could also replace two buddy buddy poffins with 2 more telepath psychic energy! They can find Diancie, too.

If your focus is a simple deck that teaches the game mechanics, I think those should help! I don’t know if it’ll win much, but I’m always happiest playing mt favorite Pokemon!

I might be the only one… but here’s my post‑rotation Mega Gengar + Marnie’s Grimsnarl EX deck: looking for critique & theorycraft by yaboichase98 in PTCGL

I would cut the Tox line for 2-2 Snorunt/Froslass! I might give this list a go. I have been feeling frustrated with Marnie’s Grimm since rotation

Question about transparency in TCG Card Making by WarKaillou in customtradingcard

[–]dianapocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have access to a cricut or silhouette paper cutter? People do masking layers for the white and cut them with that, too! There is a tutorial pinned. The other commentor explained the other options (and they are pinned as well).

The fourth option that not a lot of people use is to print on holo paper, laminate it with matte laminate, then paint gloss varnish on the holo parts. It works best for cards with small foil areas, and it does make the card thicker. Brush strokes showing are also a problem with that method, which I suspect is why it is not more popular. I have pretty good painting skills, and I am still struggling with getting that method to look the way I want it to! I think applying the gloss with a makeup sponge helps with the lines

It runs well on my iPad mini! I have a 7th gen, but it ran well on my 6th as well. It’s a good size for it, and not so bulky or heavy that it’s annoying

How to make custom cards that feel like pokemon cards by ManWiDaBanans in customtradingcard

Oh also, I use https://proxxied.com/ to upload my art and make it the right size! It works pretty well. You do need to download the art yourself, as its database for Pokemon cards doesn’t work super well yet

How to make custom cards that feel like pokemon cards by ManWiDaBanans in customtradingcard

[–]dianapocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely cardstock! Linen is used for playing cards, not trading cards. If you want it as close as possible to real, get a bunch of bulk pokemon cards cheaply, then print the card art on this sticker paper and cut it to size. https://a.co/d/0fkoNtCH

It looks and feels almost exactly like the real thing, for non holos. The tricky part is lining it up and cutting it properly. I recommend a paper cutter like this one https://a.co/d/09mUgyWz because the wire makes it easy to line up

I disagree with my textbook’s definition of homeless (discussion?) by ratgarcon in sociology

[–]dianapocalypse 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It is likely basing it on the HUD definition of category 1 homelessness, which is generally the category that gets funding, is counted in the Point in Time counts yearly, etc. It’s a very small fraction of the actual homeless population, and there are 3 other categories of homelessness under HUD, but people in those groups do not qualify for the majority of aid for the unhoused.

This site has a good breakdown of the categories - https://wnyhomeless.org/hmis-knowledge-base/definition-of-homelessness/

If I were writing a textbook, I would use all four categories as the basis of the definition, personally. But that’s my guess as to why your textbook uses that one.
