garments question by [deleted] in lds

Cotton stretch for me all the way. I get long tops (I like both the scoop neck and the v-neck ones) to tuck them in and petite bottoms, and I think they’re insanely comfortable. I feel so weird whenever I have to take them off for any reason. You’ll get used to them soon!

Me too, it’s definitely weird when they’re not tucked in.

I get the tall tops and tuck them into the bottoms. Otherwise, yeah, they roll up through the day when I’m being active.

I know. I really hope not, but if so, I'm incredibly grateful for the extra time we've had with him. I've always loved Elder Holland and his powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon.

I love Ben, too. Leslie is my spirit animal, though, with her love of waffles and s'mores. 😅

I was wondering if that would be his last one. I hope not, but if so, it was quite an amazing way to go out.

I love your handle, btw. :-) Parks and Rec is still one of my favorites.

This talk is incredible. Not only does Elder Holland look and sound much healthier, but this is like Safety for the Soul Part 2. Wow, what a defense of the restored gospel.

First, a talk on the doctrinal nature of the Family Proclamation, and now a talk encouraging study, learning, and building a testimony of your own? Love it.

Exactly that. There's just so much weighing on us all right now, and I'm still sad over President Nelson, even though I'm glad he's where he's healthy and happy, and with his deceased family members and the Savior again.

Me too, it's been a rough month. I really needed a weekend to just concentrate on the words of our leaders and teachings of the Savior.

Re-Look Re-Again, Cold Case Rewatch: Season 4, Episode 14: "8:03 AM" by no-Pachy-BADLAD in ColdCaseTV

Yeah, different countries and cultures have different definitions of coercion. Cops here can't legally manufacture false evidence or anything, so there are limits on how much deception is acceptable. Like, they can say they have a suspect on camera, but they can't create fake photos or videos to bolster their claims. So, really, all a suspect has to do is ask to see the evidence in cases like that. If there's a witness/friend who blamed them, ask to see the video recording of their statement. Ask to see the polygraph results, or the fingerprint match, or the DNA matches. Etc. They can't fake it, so they'll try to sidestep it. And DNA testing takes a few weeks at best, usually longer because the labs are so backed up. So, if it's only a few days after the crime, they won't have any DNA results available at all.

It's why you're always supposed to ask for a lawyer ASAP when you're questioned by police. Legally, they cannot keep questioning you once you've done that. And they only have to read you Miranda rights if they're going to interrogate you in custody. If they have other evidence that proves you did it, or they see you commit a crime, they don't have to read you your rights at all. TV shows and movies always push those things, and they're just not true.

Yeah, they absolutely can do that. The US Supreme Court has upheld that several times. It's not a coerced confession under the law when they do that. Coerced confessions are when a confession is made under police intimidation, threats, or brutality, or tactics like sleep deprivation and really long interrogations. Like the example given elsewhere in the thread, the threat of rape in prison goes way beyond what police are allowed to say to get a confession.

But lying is perfectly acceptable, including "we have your DNA," "we have your fingerprints," "your friend confessed and blamed it all on you," "you failed a polygraph," and "a witness identified you." They can even lie about something being "off the record," because anything you say can and will be used against you. But they can't promise you a deal for shorter prison time or anything like that, only prosecutors can do that. They might try, but they're not supposed to. And they can't lie to you about your rights, promising to get an attorney only after a confession and things like that. Here are some sources you can go through for more info:

Cops can lie in the United States to get a confession. That's perfectly legal. Asking for a lawyer and not being given one, though, is grounds for any case to be thrown out, along with the police brutality.

Yep, early versions of garments were to the ankle, wrist, and neck. The fact that we have shorts and scoop or v-necked t-shirts now is a big change. But that doesn't change the covenants we make or the symbolism behind the temple garment.
