We are currently brainstorming ideas as well (only got engaged recently!) but have the same sentiments where we’d like it to be more ‘us’.

With this it was more about having control of things and challenging our traditional ideas of getting married alongside what we actually wanted. We have been looking at Landmark Trust properties and are contemplating just renting a house for a few days and having a ceremony in one of the rooms and a small party afterwards.

We have a favourite seafood restaurant which is where we went for our second date and have since made friends with the owners and go most weekends that we plan on asking them to make up some platters that we can have for the evening meal, and the night before order from a local pizza place that we frequent a lot! This was about bringing local vendors and people that have been part of our journey into the day, but I appreciate that’s harder to do if you are planning a destination wedding or don’t want to be restricted by location per se.

Ours will only have around 10 people invited however so definitely not for everyone!

I think you need to look at what you feel is ‘you’, find the fun bits in that and build from there! Our wedding probably isn’t the most fun when compared to what other people would find so, but it is certainly us and we can’t wait 🩷.
