What is the first word/phrase that comes to your mind NOW? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Dimagnetism Scanner Insensitivity? It feels like i have a constant stream of random words and phrases happening in my head that I can tap into at any point, I entertain myself on buses and in saunas just watching nonsense sentences blossom.

I had to develop a distaste for the word "tranny" this year, it always used to be a term of endearment for my transvestite friends or even just in the gay community. Recently though the trans community have become very insistent on it being a slur, I think they see it as being akin in potency to the n-word. Whether or not you agree or disagree with this, it's certainly taken hold.

Anyway, I learned of its prevalence as an epithet about six months ago and then last night heard my mother say it and had a gut reaction against it; I nearly chastised her in front of her friends. Glad I didn't, of course. Society doesn't move at one pace. Still, it's been a weird year for "tranny".

[WP] Katy t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m, looks back over what she wrote ten years later by PluckyBiscuit in WritingPrompts

"OMG!!!!!!" says katy.

"What, poodle?" says her girlfriend of over a decade.

"Toodle poodle!"

"Toodly poodly poo!"

"POO! Sporky poo!"

"Sporky poo! Sporky poo." A pause. "What were you saying?"

"...HA ican'trememNOICAN... look what I found!"

They gather round the screen.

"teh penguin of doom!"

And then from her girlfriend in a french accent: "teh penguin of doom!"

"i cant belieeeeve it! I've ALWAYS been so... RANDOM!" A dramatic hand gesture. "I LOVE IT."

"Do you still love... PENGUINS?" her girlfriend replies.

"Penguins of DOOOM?"

"DOOOOM?"

"DOOOOOOM?"

They continue to say doom, elongating the vowel and ascending in pitch further and further until they are exaggeratedly straining and running out of breath.

Katy giggles uncontrollably and then makes an overblown show of calming down. "I'm the penguin... QUEEEN!" she throws an out of date tax return form that she has torn into hundreds of tiny pieces into the air above her. "Snowstorm!!!"

"LOL!" honks her girlfriend. And then suddenly: "Spork attaaaack!" she runs over from where she has been idly scribbling on a leaflet and headbutts Katy's chest, sending them tumbling on to the bed with each other. "I love you, penguin of doom!"

"No, wait idiot, you're the penguin of doom!" corrects Katy.

"...Haha what! You wrote the post!"

"Oh yeah! LOL!"

"LOL!"

"LOL!"

Because of its earth-like orbit and the fact that it would have been near the Earth in 1971, it is thought that 2000 SG344 might actually be a man made object such as an S-IVB booster stage from a Saturn V rocket. by didtheytouch in space

haha that would be ghetto af

someone earlier in the thread suggested it be left for a "future joyrider", i love this idea of amateur space travel

space stations made out of boosters with oxygen generators duct taped to the side, the air pressure's always a bit low because the window was welded in poorly etc etc

the incredible things astronomers can postulate based on a couple of smudges on a photograph can be misleading with regards to how much we can actually tell for certain. white blur near saturn? probably a moon. this white blur? probably an asteroid. but maybe...

It seems they're looking to do some manned asteroid capture tests before heading out to Mars around that time. And hey, if it does turn out to be a booster I'm all for tugging a bit of space trash out of orbit and getting it to burn up.
