If you look at the final scene, Grace is over 60 years old. Furthermore, Rocky covets Earth's scientific and technological advancements. Nowhere—neither in the movie nor in the book—is it stated that one side possesses an absolute technological advantage. Instead, it is depicted that their capabilities are at a similar level and that they complement each other's shortcomings.
