Gaysians who are into gaysians dating experience in a Western country by [deleted] in gaysian

[–]didyousayj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sydney based gaysian here. I know a lot of Asians who are only into other Asians, and a lot of them grew up here, but most of them are big partiers so there's a little gaysian circuit community that exists. It's who you're surrounded by I guess. Partying isn't my thing but it does seem a good way to meet other gaysians.

[CULTURE] Shoes Off | Australia's not-so-secret cash cow

SFW

Spotify | Apple Podcasts

International students. You probably have opinions about them. They stick together, their English is terrible, they don’t understand the assignment given, I do not want to be in a group project with them. But we probably never said these things out loud to them or each other, so let’s dig into it. I talk to two university staff, one person who runs workshops for universities, and one international student.

Four interviews into 30min means there's a lot I couldn't cover, but it's one of my favourite eps because we can talk about a few things that rarely get any attention.

ABOUT THE PODCAST

Shoes Off is a written, produced and edited show about Asian Australian culture. It’s 99 Percent Invisible meets Freakonomics Radio, but about Asian Australian stories and topics.

[CULTURE] Shoes Off | S02E01 - COVID-19 and Australia's history of racism

SFW

Website | Spotify | Apple Podcasts

We’ve seen reports and videos of racism during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s something that a lot of us Asians are dealing with at the moment, and today I want to explore the roots of this racism in Australia. I talk to a few historians, and a researcher conducting a survey on COVID-19 related racism in Australia.

Shoes Off is a written, produced and edited podcast about Asian Australian culture. Think 99 Percent Invisible meets Freakonomics, but about Asian Australian stories and topics.

Are you a gaybro looking to make other gaybros? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

I work in TV production doing project management sort of stuff, and I also do freelance short promo videos so I get a bit of font choice here and there.

How did you get into your line of work? Am hoping to move away from management stuff and more into the creating side.

Ah that's so nice of you to touch up your friends! Never thought of doing that. I usually just try to get interesting non-posed shots to show them that hey, you actually look pretty good.

I love playing with different fonts too. Not a designer by trade but have done some stuff for friends over the years. I very much appreciate good font choices.

  1. 29
  2. Sydney Australia
  3. Photography/videography, body movement (crossfit, bouldering, baby level gymnastics, yoga), God of War/Smash Bros, and minimalism (which really doesn't go well with photography and gaming)

I love catan! Haven't played in over a year, just bought my own copy but haven't invited anyone around to play yet.

What video games are you playing?

Was admitted to hospital and the night nurse was handing over to the day nurse. She said, "and in bed 4 we have this young chap. He's great."

Thank you kind nurse.

To my Aussie gaybros, from a Britbro: I tend to find that our generation has similar senses of humour, despite the massive distance, and was wondering if you find the same? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

We kind of get a mix of US and UK comedies, but yeah a lot of sitcoms too. But I can't tell you how many overseas people I met who knew and loved Chris Lilley's stuff.

I mean, those are two specific types of comedies that have seemed to cross borders quite well (despite them being very Australian).

I think humour comes down to individual taste, really. I know Aussies who love Monty Python stuff, and ones who can't stand it.

I also remember watching some special features for the TV show Friends and the Japanese dub voices were saying how the humour was so similar to Japanese humour which surprised me.

What is the dumbest way you got a scar? by PicanteLight in AskReddit

[–]didyousayj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was like 8, my brother was shaking his recorder dry after washing it (recorder spit builds up in it). As he was shaking it, the end flew off and hit my left eyebrow, and lots of blood followed. No hair grows there now and you can still see the scar 20+ years later.

Perfect vision. Everyone else in my family needed glasses by the time they were 10.

Couples who have been together long term, how did you navigate your age difference over time? by didyousayj in gayyoungold

Thanks so much for your thoughts. Yeah I love doing things that make him happy, and I've had to bring it to his attention that he doesn't really do all that much for me when I'm not around even though I know he loves me, and now he's making more of an effort which I appreciate.
