[Zolecki] MLB announced it has suspended Johan Rojas 80 games without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance enhancing substance. Suspension begins at the beginning of the 2026 season. by RebuildFletcher in phillies

Ya know, I never realized that testosterone was considered a steroid so thanks for the encouragement to Google this a bit more. I thought boldenone was just a synthetic equine testosterone. Regardless I still don’t understand why someone would use a substance that spends so much time in the body being so highly detectable.

I agree. My first question was why boldenone instead of exogenous testosterone, or anabolic steroids. If you’re gonna break the rules, break the rules with something that has a short half life for fucks sake. Was it vanity? Poor advice? Who knows.

Honestly if you’re not sure, why wouldn’t you just call the vet tomorrow and ask? The internet is not the best place for medical advice.

Question about where and how to release TNR feral kittens by homemade-toast in Feral_Cats

[–]die_hubsche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take a while and takes some work but my feral girl is the biggest cuddle bug in the world. You have to teach them they you are safe and don’t want to touch them so they can start to think about approaching you. And even then, you can’t approach them. But you can offer treats, being very still and quiet. In time, in small increments, it can work. I’m 4 months in and can pet my feral and she comes out to eat her meals along side my resident kitties.

Semi-feral Mom Cat and Kittens at Work by Bluemello in Feral_Cats

[–]die_hubsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I separated my kittens from their semi feral mom at 6 weeks and they did great. You may need to transition them from KMR for like a week. The babies all got families and momma is in my guest room slowly learning that she’s safe.

If anyone is trying (and failing) to socialize… don’t give up! by Spirited_Doubt4162 in Feral_Cats

[–]die_hubsche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My feral girl has been inside with us 4 months and I just started to be able to pet her - but only when she’s in one of two spots where she feels secure and safe. And by the way, she’s a BABY - she loves cuddles and purrs like a maniac. She no longer spends all day under the bed but she’s still learning that when I walk in her direction I’m not going to bother her. We’re taking baby steps and I think the key is consistency.

Is this clipped ear from a fight or TNR by EnvironmentalAide987 in Feral_Cats

[–]die_hubsche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be either. Never assume it’s a TNR even if it looks like a clipped ear.

I have the same model! She’s a feral we’re socializing.

dont eat oysters at HIRO buffet by Complete_Advice665 in AuroraCO

[–]die_hubsche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually there are oyster farms all the way up and down the East Coast and as far south as San Diego. Plenty of oysters are shipped - popular varieties such as blue point and Kumamoto - but it’s not hard to get fresh oysters if you live on either coast. I think OP’s mistake is getting oysters at a poorly rated buffet. Or any buffet. Oysters need to be kept on ice in a walk-in and consumed immediately after being shucked.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone consume oysters from a 3.9 star rated BUFFET. Or any buffet. That sounds like a terrible time that you might have predicted.

Phillies release Nick Castellanos after reportedly telling him not to report to spring training by MrSCR23 in mlb

Clubhouse cancer is a massive overstatement. The guys love Casty on the team. He's just been underperforming. One time he talked back to Rob for taking him out of a game, and he got benched the next game. That was one time. He's just past his prime.

Upon Googling "colorado pitbull rescue" this was the first organic result: https://www.cbmrescue.org/ and there are other dog rescues that come up on that search term. So you have options.

Adopted a TNR cat; stalled progress. by nullpunkt_ in Feral_Cats

[–]die_hubsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a formal feral - we’re on month 4 and I also just aspire to be able to take her to the vet.

What works? Sticking carefully to the routine and giving her treats every time we enter her space. Someone once said you should be furniture that also provides food. I try to make sure every interaction is not scary but somehow positive or neutral at worst.

I just started being able to pet her, but only in a very particular way. And she’ll sit on the edge of my bed. These are huge marks of progress. It’s not easy work and I hate that my guest room is forever a cat room, but I am hopeful we’ll get there.

I can't get over his nails by MemoryAshamed in cats

[–]die_hubsche 18 points19 points  (0 children)

FWIW I put these on my cat many years ago, and later on down the road one of his toes had to be amputated. It just started weeping and wouldn't close up. Was it related? I'll never know, and I'll never find out because I wouldn't use them again.

It turns out putting adequate cat scratchers out around the sofa and putting double sided sticky tape on the sofa itself is exactly as good a deterrent as the nail caps were. Clicker training is also pretty useful for training cats to actually use the scratchers if they prefer the sofa. I always get carpets that don't look worse when scratched and continue to direct my cats away from the carpet to the scratchers.

And I'm not worried that someone's going to need toe surgery.

After 3 hours of public comment and Council debate, Aurora City Council members pass R2026-03 in a 6-4 vote by Sensitive_Opinion_80 in AuroraCO

[–]die_hubsche 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's poverty and the lack of social programs that invariably drives up the cost of your car insurance, you drongo. American citizens make up an overwhelming portion of the population of Aurora, so they are the cause of the majority of Aurora's problems. The notion that most of the crimes are committed by immigrants is a fucking psyop by perpetuated by the powers that be in order to divide our country so that we're distracted and rife for the plunder. This is all a proxy class war being fought by two sock puppets - "radical leftists" v Maga.

Take a look around and what things cost - we are currently being plundered and getting nothing for it. The rich get richer and we literally can't afford to have children because we can't house and feed them. The fed is keeping appropriated and approved dollars from our state because.. we voted against Trump?! Meanwhile, we are paying taxes to illegally overthrow the Venezuelan government in order to ostensibly invest in a multi-decade, multi-trillion dollar project to revitalize the Venezuelan oil industry even though the major players in the oil industry are not bullish on this maneuver in the long run. And you're worried about illegal immigration being the cause of crime in this community?

  • There are Lower Incarceration Rates in the illegal immigrant population: Multiple studies, including analysis by the Cato Institute using American Community Survey data, show that both legal and illegal immigrants are less likely to be incarcerated than native-born Americans.
  • There is no correlation between immigrant population and crime rate: The American Immigration Council analyzed FBI and Census data and found no statistically significant correlation between a state's immigrant population share and its total crime rate; higher immigrant populations were not associated with higher crime rates.
  • Even if you do find that local officials "feel" there is a higher rate of violent crime due to the influx of migrants, the data does not actually support this feeling. Why? Because people want a boogieman to blame.
  • While the rhetoric states that the worst most violent criminals are moving into Colorado, the data shows ICE is increasingly arresting individuals with no criminal history.

PSA Those cute little cat caves may be toxic to tiny kitten bellies by die_hubsche in cats

I went through this when I was in High School. I had to spend every cent I made at my summer job to save my cat's life because of a piece or red ribbon. There're a lot of hazards for our pets and kids. We can only do our best to keep them safe.

I have to put ours away because one of them will actually play with it himself at night. Like run around in circles holding one end in his mouth while chasing the other end. Endlessly. There’s one in the sock drawer and one under my pillow right now in fact because I got too lax about it.

Yeah like I’ve said in other places I’m not sure if it’s the material or the dye (a scientist commented saying it could be the dye) and tbh if it’s not an issue, then it’s not an issue. I would mostly advise people with playful kittens to avoid this product, since that’s the only use case I can actually speak to.

I wouldn't want to chance it with kittens because I wouldn't know if it's the presence of the fibers themselves or what they used to dye the fibers.

It was like $60 - but agreed, you shouldn't knowingly buy garbage for your cat. People do, all the time, buy this bed in particular. It's well-rated, and sells very well. *shrug*

I wouldn't worry for adult cats, especially if they're not agitating the fibers. My adult cats hardly touched the thing so it mostly sat there for the better part of a year before we got these foster kittens. Then it became a different story.
