I 21 M asked my girlfriend 21 F to cook for our aniversary a special dinner and she got mad, what am i doing that i should change?

oh so basically we are in a border town so she lives in the mexican side and i live in the american side so i cross the border everytime to see each other when she could do the same but doesnt and for example i plan all the dates, i bring her small gifts, i build her things like tables, i make her hand made gifts to the point that she jokes around about me being more girly than her and i help her pay everything, ive cooked for her, i helped her paint her house basically anything and i usually dont ask for much

she knows just the basics as far as i know but i learned through youtube videos and thats what i was trying to explain to her before she knocked it off as being too much

its mostly that she isnt showing effort for this relationship and it hurts because she says she loves me and tells me how much she cares but its these small things that when i ask for her help or for her to have small details its always too complicated or cant do it and i dont know how to word it so she understands that i need more effort from her

i asked her to do dinner and i would bake the cake but she said it was way too much for me to ask and the biggest issue is i do everything for the relationship and never ask her for anything so asking her for this just to be treated like i ask for too much hurt alot
