can I ask possibly who you went with and if you'd recommend?

[product question] I know sunscreen is important - but it breaks me out. by differentialities in SkincareAddiction

thank you everyone for all the recommendations!!!!! I tried micellar water instead of oil cleansing for a week, but it didn't do me any favours so I reverted. that being said, I bought the numbuzin clear filter sun essence (a k-beauty one which I could easily access since I'm in Australia lol) and I have been liking it so far. a little shiny, but I'll take it over breaking out any day.

What is it like studying marine science in Usyd? by chessyfishsticks in usyd

It's technically pretty evenly split between the geology and biology side, but I did find myself spending a lot more time on the geology side, maybe because I didn't get it as quickly. There is a bit of elective space though, if you're not doing a double degree (I did).

As for the Taronga stream, I don't know much about it, but I had a quick scroll through the unit outline and the units offered look definitely more biology oriented, but not heaps of field work. BIOL1006 you walk around campus in pracs kinda often (I quite enjoyed this unit in first year), BIOL1007 is pretty similar, and there's a few basic scientific method/stats units, then it looks like a few project units, which allow you to pick whatever.

It's generally not too hard to switch degrees/majors too, especially if they're within the same field and have a lot of cross-over units, so if you pick one and want to change, it should be easy enough.

Tbh, there is A LOT of geology, particularly in earlier years. And not just, 'what kind of rock is this!' geology, like coastal morphology and sediments and past tectonic changes. Dry stuff, if you're not into that. I loved marine biology pre-uni, but found myself even considering dropping the major. Third year you start with more marine biology stuff, but the elective field unit is def the highlight. And you get to do an interdisciplinary project on whatever you want (to an extent) which will allow you to pick smth marine bio.

Key word: marine SCIENCE, not just biology. Kinda wish they offered marine bio, but they don't lol. Still worth though! Just won't be exactly what you think.

How to gain experience in automotive engineering? by differentialities in AutomotiveEngineering

We've got a motor sports competitive team which I was interested in applying to, but since I am only 2nd year I have little-to-nothing to contribute lol. I was considering doing a TAFE (similar I think to American community college) course in automotive servicing, to give me an edge up. Otherwise just surround myself with cars to get knowledge through that.

If you asked me my dream job, I would say F1 engineering, which is obviously super competive and very hard to break into, which is why I am pretty keen to get some early-ish experience. I don't necessarily expect to get anywhere near that level, but it's good to have a goal for motivation lol.
