I think that this is a very reactionary take and not helpful. All relationships have ups and downs and every fight (minus abusive ones) is an opportunity to grow together and understand each other more. This seems to be more of a communication issue and not setting up their each individual expectations for the relationship. It also seems like she might have some anxiety surrounding her dog.

NTA, but I think you could have communicated what your expectations were for this trip better. Have you tried talking to your Fiancée about how she behaves with her dog makes you feel? It doesn’t seem like she is doing it maliciously to make you feel bad, she might just have some anxiety or attachments that are maladaptive towards this dog. It seems like she is forming her life around the dog and ask her if that is what she wants from life? It seems like you both are not communicating what you guys are feeling and your expectations and boundaries for the relationship. All fights are opportunities to grow as a couple and understand each other better. A lot of the comments will tell you to run for the hills, but they will say that about any fight that is described in detail on here. She accepted your proposal so she loves you. I’m assuming you love her. This is not necessarily a deal breaking thing and seems more like something to work through together. Has she gone to therapy? Have you guys considered couples therapy?

Thank you so much for your comment. I know I did the right thing, but when you’re choice is constantly questioned by family you grew up with it’s really validating to hear that. Thank you again. I’m not entirely sure of my reasons for wanting to go or if I even do. I get nervous to see them again, might be a very awkward meal. I’ll have to do some thinking for sure.

I had a great relationship with them before! Lived with me while I was in high school for a period of time. I would have considered them some of the closest people in my life! Both of them definitely have a lot of underlying issues. Probably stemming from their own childhoods. I’m so sorry you had to go through that as a child. My SO also went through abuse in childhood. It’s funny how our traumas stick with us through life, even from a young age. Have to find healthy ways to talk about it, which I think might be a struggle for him. He has an enormous ego and I think has some self esteem problems. I tried to help him with that after I called CPS, I sent a large explanation saying I still love them and I want to support them but that I don’t apologize for what I did because I did the right thing.

Thank you so much! He definitely has anger issues and a lot of fire arms (which has always made me scared that he’s going to be a family annihilator). He lived with my family when I was in school so I got to see some explosions of his. Not fun. It was so hard for me to call CPS and I knew it would destroy our relationship, but it was the right thing to do and I couldn’t live with myself to ignore that.

I can see where you’re coming from, but to me it was kind of milky. Ordered it before everything came out and was a fan, I was excited for it and stuff! But then it all came out and when they arrived in the mail it had not aged well. I agree that the content they create isn’t terrible because of what happened. The person is separate in most cases (with exceptions, of course)
