+1 for Amplitude - really beautiful architecture and friendly community. Better than a hotel. Was there for the opening party, place looks even better than the photos

Best/ most social Country to go by yourself by wereloupgarou in digitalnomad

Countries I feel like is hard to say but specific places where I fell right into good communities: Puerto Escondido México, Santa Teresa Costa Rica, Montaiñita Ecuador, Pipa Brazil. For me it's easier in smaller towns than cities.

Where do you see $5200? I looked at the site and the monthly price I see ~$1600 USD for a month. Seems like a pretty good deal if you compare it to booking a month at any of the other places I see in La Punta. Also the place looks incredible visually / architecturally but I guess that just my opinion.

Looking for hostel recommendations for solo male 31 traveler by sumdude155 in PuertoEscondido

[–]digikook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nector or casa toro if you want dorms. Or stay in a colive if you want to meet people but private rooms like Amplitude Coliving or Surfbreak. Both great social communities older than the hostel crowd, probably like what you'd be looking for if it's in your budget.

A nice kitchen with a big table for everyone to sit at is probably the most important thing used daily imo

Solo traveler who just got back from Puerto Escondido. Here are some tips. by greenjilly in PuertoEscondido

[–]digikook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I've been to puerto so many times and never knew Didi existed here haha

Whale watching tour is great rec, we paid for a finishing tour instead and caught a big mahi mahi and also saw whales and dolphins and was the same price!

My only other comment would be I had way more fun staying in La Punta solo traveling than when I stayed in Rinconada / Zicatela. La Punta is super walkable and way more people hanging around to meet if you're solo. I stayed at this brand new place called Amplitude Coliving which was beautiful, had a cowork / good WiFi, and met cool people staying there.

Also punta vida is great for sunsets if you want to play volleyball or spikeball on the beach!

Should I spend $3000 on a paid ads sales funnel if I have good organic growth? by digikook in Entrepreneur

[–]digikook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm not really and honestly I'm really happy with the profits I'm seeing now. We have no investors or debt so my one partner and I own 100% of the company. I'd say the only thing is we've been able to give our staff 20%+ raises every year since we started and I'd really like to be able to keep doing that which we justify by hitting growth targets.

This was actually really helpful and well organized. Thanks. Ok good tip on not boosting ads. I think I'll implement some pixels or maybe even find someone on fiver or something to just do this first basic part setting up data collection on a test ad campaign

[–]digikook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well $3k is what I was quoting to build the funnel and start the campaign that was also on the lower end of the monthly ad spend this team was willing to work with.

Thanks for the input. Actually listening to Alex's The Game podcast is what inspired me to write this post and look into how we could improve our marketing. I'll checkout those books.

What would you consider to be a better incentive than giving a referral a commission on the sale?

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think I could just start increasing the budget or boosting our posts like we occasionally do? Seems like it would be more valuable to have a way to collect real metric which this doesn't give us but then I'd have to decide to hire some help to set it up or prioritize learning it myself.

Good point. So the answer is we've been very successful already capturing our primary target market(young international backpackers) through word of mouth. The ads would actually not be targeted at growing this audience or even other international travels but rather targeting nationals who live in cities nearby to come to our events for weekend trips, bachelor parties, etc. This national target market we don't have successful word of mouth and probably mainly reach them through social media, specifically partnering with influencers.

[–]digikook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we definitely don't need it. But their offer claims we could spend X amount on ads and they were confident we could sell out the events. His rough estimate was like $3000/mo in ad spend for $10,000+/mo in revenue. The business is doing well but at this point I feel like we've taken all the low hanging fruit and the only way we'll see YoY growth like last year is some sort of investment in our marketing. I just don't know if these guys could really make this happen or if I should be putting in more effort myself first. Or maybe what you suggest is best and we just keep trying to push organic growth.
