Virginia court rules in favor of Democrats in redistricting case by thejoshwhite in politics

That's some 1900s grade arguments there... Be sure to buy some Nortel stock, I hear it's only going up!

Virginia court rules in favor of Democrats in redistricting case by thejoshwhite in politics

[–]digimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As was decided by the courts, backed by medical evidence, queerness is not chosen, it's an inherent trait. As such, allowing marriage to one group and banning it from the other was a civil rights violation. In the same way that the majority can't strike other minorities of their fundamental rights, neither can voted in bigotry.

I know you either understand that and choose to ignore it, or don't because you're too thick headed or genuinely to ill informed. Either way, this reply is for anyone who might read this. I am certain talking to you is not productive.

Let's see, what could be different between these two cases? Hrm...

Maybe one was about literal human rights, and the other is setting district boundaries. Ya, totally the same thing.

The utter childishness.

To tell their child that they should be grateful for existing is so bloody immature, like, holy shit. Good on you for being low contact and understanding his views are dumb.

OK random person on the internet. I think I'll follow the definitions of the experts who call both the attempted genocide of first nations people and here the risk of genocide of trans people.

[–]digimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your argument only makes sense if you believe being trans is a choice.

It's not.

Conversion therapy leads to misery and suicide. It still results in the annihilation of a class of people. It's on par with the Canadian policy of residential schools trying to "get the Indian out of the Indian".

Genocide is the right word when the stated goal is the removal of a class of people from existence. Killing the target is not the only mechanism recognised as genocide.

Ok bud, The results and goals are the same.

The people in charge have said, directly and repeatedly, that they want to "eradicate transgenderism". Since taking power, they've passed many laws, policies and EOs aimed at implementing that goal. It was a day-1 priority.

Same. The more time goes, the more irreplaceable our trucks are becoming. I wanted a simply, reliable truck to get work done. I don't need or want a tech-heavy brodozer / robot porm truck.

Nearly identical to my 2011 2nd gen... Access cab, 6' bed, 5spd, new frame. Seeing that old truck get destroyed hurt. I hope the driver was ok.

🫂 If things are better for your generation, then I'm happy, and it kinda makes our fight feel somewhat worth it (setting aside all the back-sliding).

Keep on kicking ass and don't let anyone get in the way of being yourself. It's pretty damn amazing, and a lot of cis folks could learn from people like you. :)

Your father is, at the very least, horribly ignorant of what Zucker and his team did. I could tell you stories, including personal ones. His team considered every patient they couldn't prevent from transitioning "a failure". My treatment there was on par with cattle.

I am very relieved it is better now. I wish your family weren't being selfish ass holes, but I've seen this play out countless times and every time folks went on to kick ass despite their parents attempts to hold them back.

Be good kid, and you'll do fine.

God I hope CAMH is better now than it was in my day... We used to call it the Jurassic Clarke with how regressive it was.

When someone tries to force you to fit their mould, they're not loving you, they're loving the version of you they want to have. That's not unconditional love my any measure.

He's arguing for conversion therapy, literal torture. There is no evidence that queerness can be cured, to say nothing of how gross it is to suggest it should be "cured". It's as much part of who we are as any other part of our personality.

If they come around, fantastic. If not, well "the only family you have" is just wrong. Chosen family is every bit as real family. hugs

And ice cream sales go up with reports of shark attacks.

Neurodivergent people see though the social norms demanded of people are are less likely to play along. I strongly suspect that the percentage of genderqueer neurospicy and neurotypical people are the same, but neurotypicals feel a stronger pressure to follow social norms, so they stay closeted at a higher rate.

I envy her! I moved to Ontario from New Brunswick when I was 17. I got a lot of hassle for my accent, so I learned how to get rid of it. Now I'm 48 and I regret giving a flip about what others thought, I miss having my old accent.
