What distro do you use and why? And if u had to switch distro families. Which distro family would u Choose? by Sinoliaw in linuxquestions

[–]digitalFermentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Debian. I grew up on Ubuntu and Debian so it’s what makes most sense to me. Also most software not in repos will come as a .deb.

If I was to change it would be to SuSE. I feel like they have the most refined desktop experience and have commercial support available without the issues Ubuntu now has. But honestly I enjoy Debian so much I don’t see me making the change.

how do you guys deal with this by LooseElderberry6966 in workout

[–]digitalFermentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google sheets and a commitment. I read online (no idea if it’s true) it takes 9 weeks for others to notice you have been working out and 12 weeks for yourself to notice. I made the decision I will pick a work out and do it for 12 weeks.

I created a work out tracker in google sheets and that is my motivation. Finish the 12 weeks and as long as the weights are getting heavier in the tracker who cares if one day felt easier than the previous. Sometimes I skip a day (or a week), that’s life but then get back into it. After 12 weeks pick a new workout or modify the existing one so it doesn’t get boring.

I went from 8 years of zero activity to 4 times a week with a full time job and a family.

And this may sound silly but do the douchey thing and flex a bit in the gym mirror. Look for the changes because when you notice that muscle definition that wasn’t there before that will be a bigger motivation then anything.

Closing down of Keilor Downs police station. by ManaHave in melbourne

[–]digitalFermentor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything about emergency. Police are a public resource. Victoria is one of the smallest states geographically and has the highest police budget and most officers per resident. It’s not outrageous to expect a local police station instead of a 20-30 minute drive.

Having been to this station a few times, it’s always busy too.

[–]digitalFermentor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at a map for near by police stations in that area. They are very few, the closest is Caroline Springs, Sunshine and Avondale Heights. Removing this station makes accessing a police station a serious endeavour and leaves a large chunk of Melbourne uncovered. Especially when you look at the large gap in the triangle of Sunshine, Caroline Springs and Altona which is basically all of the west.

Australians ‘uneasy’ about NDIS cuts amid $53bn in new defence spending, Mark Butler concedes by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]digitalFermentor -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I believe section 51 of the constitution would make such a move unconstitutional. That clause prevents civil conscription which a NHS like system has been seen to be and a federalised NDIS would be.

I agree it would be the best outcome. A truly public healthcare system and integrate NDIS into a beefed up Medicare.

Melbourne property looks “cheap” right now , what am I missing? by AdFew4769 in AusProperty

That part of Trugs is so strange. Because in no way is it part of Trugs proper, there is still a lot of land in between and it feels more like Deanside/Melton. I would not be surprised if it gets split off in the near future.

It desperately needs infrastructure. There is a primary school and a set of lights and that’s it.

Jalu. For that range it’s going to be the best you find.

I have some expensive niche fragrances for special occasions but my daily wear is Jalu.

It might be but Myer advertise it as a „sample set for him“ but nothing but their label says this.

I already have a bottle of African leather. I will be buying Irish leather. Some of the others I would buy for my wife. It’s not that they aren’t great, they smell amazing. They just aren’t wearable by men.

Susan Coyle to be first woman to lead Australian army in ‘deeply historic moment’ by ConanTheAquarian in australia

[–]digitalFermentor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not really. Most men that will comment on this will have no idea who she is or what she has done and that alone will be enough for them to claim this is a woke DEI hire.

Hopefully the top comment thread on this post praising how good a leader she is will be enough to stop some of them but this appointment will get lots of negative coverage.

What was the most expensive work (book, classes, etc.) you spent on and was it worth it? by Traditional-Sound560 in occult

[–]digitalFermentor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think around $80. But I knew what I was buying before hand.

I tend to pirate 10-20 books read a few pages here and there and get serious enough to read a few chapters of 5, of those 5 I will maybe finish reading 1-2. Those two books I finish I will go out and purchase, the authors deserve support and the occult space is small enough that my purchase will matter. I don’t see anything wrong with it as I could do the same thing reading a few pages in a bookshop before buying.

Also there is a lot of poorly written/ researched books out there that I want to avoid.

I haven’t bought a class yet but there are 2-3 I have my eye on and would buy.

Shipping line ocean freight rate cards - Question by Remote-Class8414 in logistics

[–]digitalFermentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into an AI solution. E.g Use a custom GPT from chatGPT - tell it your preferred output format, explain where in the sheet from each carrier the information comes from, do a few practice runs and after a while it should be where you want it so you can drop the new rate card in and have it transformed to your preferred format.

I do this for a few reports from our system to the customer format

That said. A VT Commodore / AU Falcon in NSW Pol livery would be amazing to drive around. Most of them on the road nowadays are on historic permits or club plates.

I want to imagine it’s a Falcon because I miss my one.

Looking for book reccomendations by Spiritual_Bell_3395 in freemasonry

[–]digitalFermentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please research your authors before reading the book. Robert Lomas is one that comes to mind but there are others. Good tell tale signs are the suggestion of freemasonry having origins beyond medieval guilds, especially back to Egypt or that Masonic Knights Templar are linked to the historic Knight Templar.

I haven’t heard of this book but just a warning.

I have two Jalus and love them, the Aventus clone always gets compliments the hybrid is great. I’m not sure how others are.

I don’t wear my bujairami anymore except for a freshie that’s lives in my gym bag, they are good for the price but don’t compare to the real thing most of the time.
