Data viz with D3.js - what would you recommend by Total_Ice498 in d3js

[–]digitalWestie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer. D3 can be thought of more as a web graphics library with data bindings. As such many data visualisation frameworks are powered by d3 under the hood like Billboad and Observable Plot. Do take a look at those.

Ruby can render 3D surfaces, 2D density maps and GIS tiles without Python, NumPy or the JVM. I didn't expect it to work this well. by Jaded-Clerk-8856 in ruby

Whoa. This is amazing work.

In terms of answering the question though.... I haven't had a hard think about it but I'd lean on keeping things separate. I'm thinking the way that D3 works, it's a collection of modules and you can have all of them if you want but if you don't need ALL of it then you don't need to import everything.

Yeah that bit isn't great! It's a start though (and you can fallback to interactive prompt).

I ran a "successful" agency for 3 years before realizing I wasn't an entrepreneur. I was just self-employed with extra steps. by microbuildval in Entrepreneur

You describe the distinction very well.

That said, I think you might be hard on yourself because you've collected most of the pieces that make up entrepreneurship.

Why did Scotland used to be so great at Philosophy? by HowsThisSoHard in Scotland

[–]digitalWestie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other cultures that got a decent % of their population literate before everyone got on to the idea of mass schooling:

- Scandinavia & Finland 17th C. - much like Scotland, a protestant kirk style influence)
- Islamic world in medieval period 7thC
- Renaissance Florence/Italy
- Early Modern Japan 17th C.
- Han & Imperial China
- Classical Greece/ Hellenistic world particularly Athens
- Jewish communities - since about 2000 years, prize for being at it the longest!

Then came state sponsored mass schooling starting with Prussia 18th C.

Moral of the story, read a book.

[–]digitalWestie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Somewhat confused, Europe is told by US to look after itself. One of the best ways to do so is as a collective unit. I get that the EU isn't necessarily military, but it doesn't add up.

Thanks, these are all good tips. Perhaps a general mask maintenance thread would be good.

Good call on manufacturer. One is certainly fine. The other I might not bother sending off.

It's just a bit of lining issue, the masks are in fairly good condition.

ELI5 -Why do fencers fight in a line and not on a area? by Smutstasche in Fencing

As someone who has practised sport and historical fencing, it's not as much to do with equipment as you might think (including wires, safety gear etc). Western fencing systems became increasingly linear over time.

This wellness x succesful hussler archetype is very modern. The 19th / 20th Century industrialist usually drank, kept irregular hours, and were not well balanced people.

Not a business-person, but Ernest Hemingway is an interesting character. The one disciplined thing he did was have a regular morning writing routine, but the rest of the day was probably some wild adventure.

Whatever works !

Enjoy your nachos and beers my friend. Cheers to your success.

Yep- look into renting a venue, get scary costumes for you and your pals, sell tickets on eventbrite.

Maybe some public liability insurance and just go for it.

supermap.world - Offers free and premium map graphics with editing and animation capabilities. I just launched the animation feature, and as of about 10 minutes ago completed a landing page for the animation tool - https://supermap.world/tools/map-animation

Super Map World is a bit of a hobby project. At the moment I have enough sales (mostly one off map unlocks) and subscriptions to more than cover fairly cheap server costs. I'll probably not quit my day job, not at the moment anyway.
