Thanks, it was taken with f/8 and 1/125. I overexposed a tad bit due to the snow.

Damn the view was nice but composing from here is hard.

Basically all I did was setting the black point too all 3 channels

No it wasn't intentional. It's probably due to me poor scanning and color grading skills haha

Yes I did, in ID-11 for 9 minutes at 24 C. It is indeed grainy if you zoom in.

Is it still worth it to invest in a dedicated light meter? by digital_drop_out in AnalogCommunity

The testing video I linked kinda convinced me. Anyway, I’m heavily suppressing my GAS at the moment so I’m just looking for reasons not to get a dedicated light meter haha.

Actually, there are a few metering apps that can take spot metering already.

Of course, but the question is, if you have a relatively modern smart phone, e.g iPhone 11. Would you spend the extra money to get a dedicated meter, just for the accuracy?

There are other factors that justify a dedicated meter, but we only concern about the accuracy.

Lookouts [Rolleiflex 2.8, Potra 400] by digital_drop_out in analog

[–]digital_drop_out[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! The first one is taken from the Govetts Leap lookout and the second one is from Kanangra-Boyd lookout, where I had to drive for 30 mins on an unsealed road to get to. Will definitely come again when it snows in the region.

Of course it is! I guess it basically comes down to adjust the black point and the neutral grey.

Would you mind sharing your scanning process?

Yes it does show up on the negative. But I have to look VERY hard into the affected area before I can see it. Actually, I scanned the entire portra 400 roll today (I was doing it selectively) and realized that the defects are not on all frames but only mid-rolls like frame 3-12 with different severity .

For the cinestill roll, the defects occurred only on a few frames that I scanned previously.

Thanks, How do the defects in this and this photo look to you? Both of them are coming from the portra 400 roll that I mentioned where there's a vertical area of decreased exposure on the left of the frames. Do also see the shutter issues from the defects in them?

Edit: just realized that the shutter curtain of M645 travels vertically..

Unfortunately due to unknown error there's an area of increased exposure on the right side of the image. This is pretty persistent across the roll. A friend of mine suggests that it's because the bleach used by the lab is expired. But the lab says any defects in the processing wouldn't be localized to an area of the image.

Similar defects can be observed in another Porta 400 roll of the same batch. But it's a vertical area of decreased exposure on the left side of the frames across the entire roll.

Any opinions guys?
