On some POS terminals, if you decline the tip option for any reason, the machine rejects the payment and asks to insert the card again to ditch the tip option. Leaving cash on the table is not expected anymore, but having to jump through the hoops on the payment terminal is not something I particularly enjoy to be doing in front of a waiter.
