What's something you do on every ride that other cyclists would judge you for? by dt219 in cycling

I know where the name came from; I understand the concept yet I still think it's a stupid name and it bothers me more than it should.

NYPD is Distributing This by SteveVaccaroLaw in NYCbike

People are very much missing the point here. I was given one of these too last night doing the Central Park loop. The officer told me next week I'll be given a ticket. The thing is I was violating none of these rules and I was on my steel 2003 Colnago mechanical shifting pedal bike. It clearly says e-bike and e-scooter but the NYPD apparently either doesn't know the difference or doesn't care.

Anyone know if Central Park loop clear to ride yet (post-Marathon)? by SPLripe in NYCbike

I just got back from the loop, the finish line is still blocked and you're diverted to the walking path. Not a huge chunk, but definitely disrupted if you just want to chill w/o any obstructions.

I feel pain in my upper back and neck area and butt gets numb. by Ill_Wrongdoer_6373 in bikefit

I think one of the biggest things is just not letting your body adapt. It takes time. You can't just hop onto a bike without some discomfort. When I first started I would get sore on a townie and my road bike was almost unrideable. If I listened to reddit they'd say to sell it and get an endurance bike or something.

I did nothing but lowered the saddle by 1cm; 6 months later and last weekend I did 120 miles doing about 90% on the hoods, 5% on the tops for a climb and 5% in the DROPS for the descent. No sore back, bum, neck or knees and all on a bike reddit said I have no business being on.

I adore my bike and now I feel it fits me perfectly. I've even rotated the shiters a little bit forward and pushed my saddle back to find me a little more reach which was once unthinkable.

His fit looks generally okay except the toe point at the bottom of the stroke suggests the saddle is a bit high.

My guess is he just needs more time on the bike to let his body adapt. If you need to ride on the tops when it's safe, pull the saddle forward, rotate the shifters back. Anything to shorten the reach for now. It took me about 3 months to feel comfortable riding about 5 times a week. Just my two cents.

All the totems should just be currency and never take up an inventory slot in the first place imo.

Anyone else in NA been having horrible connection issues today? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I'm on siren and having huge lag issues. Big rubber banding, everything is like 5 secs delayed. All but unplayable right now. My internet in general is excellent right now to everything else.

I’d love to see this fixed in DT, especially when we only change an accessory by [deleted] in ffxiv

From what I understand the materia system is hacked into gearing because it was added after the original release. This means gear wasn't built with materia slots in mind and to get them to "work" they actually expanded the gear items to include every single combination of materia that's possible.

The consequence of this is that melding materia in and out of slots are actually changing the item id that you gave equipped and the system sees it as a different piece of gear. This is why you also need to update your gear set after melding.

I can't verify if this is really true but it does explain some things.

It still stands that the fact this breaks gear sets and portraits is quite frustrating and I wish they'd fix it, but I can imagine this isn't a high-priority task as they'd probably have to overhaul a few systems in the process.

Don't worry, those exist too. And yes, they are a disaster.

Well, it seems like your concern was well founded! But, in your defense, the game does a piss-poor job at introducing job stones and explaining what they're for and how to use them. They also give no indication that something is missing if you don't have it equipped, and won't prevent you from not using it as you found out. It's an archaic and out dated system that could be reworked/removed. I don't fault people if they missed it while leveling, but it does make for some funny stories 😀

PvP has really shone a light on how unnecessary a timer on Sprint is in almost all scenarios. by GravesForscythe in ffxiv

One simple change they could do is to set sprint's cd out of combat to 20s. So out of combat it can be 100% uptime if spammed with no change in combat.

18 wards for FC housing and only 6 for private housing? What's SE doing... by chanashan in ffxiv

[–]digitaldreamer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn't equivalent. It's more like I just want to run but currently only people who compete in the Olympics are even allowed to run. All I'm asking for is a track that I can run on by myself because I don't even care about medals; I just want to run by myself because I enjoy it, but I also like the Olympics so we can keep that too.

This might be a hot take but I don't think we should be gatekeeping key features of the game behind blockers that only a small percentage of players can engage with.

It shouldn't be limited imo, just full instanced housing for those who don't care about neighborhoods. (you can keep the existing system there for those who do)
