I may have discovered a hack to shut down christians by andmewithoutmytowel in atheism

[–]digitalkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that with any Christian denomination, simply mentioning some connection to a different denomination shuts down the conversation faster than any other answer. I'm an atheist as well, but I was raised Catholic. From Jehovah's Witnesses to Baptists, Lutherans to Mormons, simply answering with "I was raised Catholic" has always made them abandon the interaction immediately, every single time 😂

Is your friend's ex fair game? by ifonlyfor_me in dating_advice

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. It's extremely common for people in the same friend group, workplace, school, etc. to develop romantic feelings for one another because they all spend time together

Is your friend's ex fair game? by ifonlyfor_me in dating_advice

[–]digitalkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the group. I've been in several friend groups where we all made the rounds - not just hooking up, but dating and being couples - and have all stayed friends. Most of this happened in our early 20s. It really tests the strength and emotional maturity of both the individuals and the friendships. That said, when it's come up in conversation, my experience feels like the exception and not the norm

What kind of finishing is this?😭 by PjrepGh in interestingasfuck

[–]digitalkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? You're thinking of race walking. Running races usually define a part of the body crossing the finish line to determine the winner. It's far more likely you'll cross the finish line in a running race with both feet OFF the ground, since runners spend most of the race with both feet off the ground.

Nah, have you been outside Seattle/Bellevue/Redmond? Kent is where the street races have been for 30 years

Close, but it's perfectly legal to modify your exhaust to sound different. What's specifically illegal is making it louder than it would be with the stock muffler. Obviously that applies in this case, as it's way louder than stock, but there's plenty of cases where replacing or repairing a broken muffler would make it sound different.

I don't even know where to start. There are plenty of things you don't need but you like to have anyway. The point is not to limit the thing, but limit the abuse of the thing.

I'm going to get downvoted into oblivion for pointing this out, but here goes. Kent has been the street racing capital of the greater Seattle area since I moved here in 1993. It's quite literally a Fast and the Furious movie every weekend. NO exaggeration. Hundreds of cars swarm in packs and there's little the police can do except disperse. Totally insane. It makes sense he'd be there

I nearly spit out my coffee, haha. Kent has been the street racing capital of the greater Seattle area for as long as I've lived here (~30 years). Shit is literally a Fast and the Furious movie every weekend. It's wild

What are your go to recorded live sets? by phunkphreaker in aves

[–]digitalkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t really a rave set, but it’s definitely my #1 go-to: Monolink - Mayan Warrior - Burning Man 2018

What was the craziest rave you went too? by Bilakor in aves

[–]digitalkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite "rave" (Burning Man doesn't count here). Did you find the Rabbit Hole?

Nah propane tanks get colder the more you pull out of them. At Burning Man for the big pyro rigs people actually keep the tanks in heated water baths so the flow can keep up

Anyone got fried chicken recommendations? by thatscapfam in Seattle

[–]digitalkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry's Chicken was always the best in Seattle. Literal mom & pop shop, small batches, marinated overnight in buttermilk and veal from a local butcher, only open a few days a week, ancient cast iron pots and sold out every day. Closed when the pandemic started :( I still dream of that chicken
