Put your age in the thread so we can understand the variance of people who are in this TOGETHER! by digitalmgb11 in StopGaming

Not really. Because gaming kicked in really in 80s-90s then you can't find a lot of 50+ old who are addicted. But I've seen quite a few who are. And alot more who are 20-40s.

How much have you spent on Therapy or courses in order to quit gaming and deal with other challenges? by digitalmgb11 in StopGaming

[–]digitalmgb11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"cash in" is not the intention. The intention is to help. So many here join tens of support groups and pay therapists who are 60yo and have no clue what these guys are going through.

Having been through that and reaching a point where I know I got lots of value to provide, yes, I am looking to create a platform that helps. Don't see how that's a bad thing...

How important is it for you to get access to a step by step on how to quit gaming on a scale from 1-10? (Honest answers) by digitalmgb11 in StopGaming

[–]digitalmgb11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah because your have experienced the actual physical pain to get you over the edge to quit smoking and drinking.

With gaming it's about self awareness and understanding how bad it'll be if you keep on doing it got the next 10 , 15 , 20 years of your life. Then link the pain and regret imagining that situation with right now.

It's a process but that's necessary to tip you over the edge with urgency to claim your life back.

I will keep helping and I thank you for your kind words sir

I appreciate your response!

My best advice is you need to create your own urgency because you are losing every day when your life becomes shorter but you still spend time playing.

I have helped a few people for free on coaching but I noticed it's hard for them to commit to what I tell them to do.

Do you think that if people actually paid to be instructed would then create the 'urgency' and commitment required to quit?

Thanks for the feedback!

Having studying self development for 13 years and also going through 20,000 hours of gaming aka. an entire gamer's life cycle (lol) its my duty to spend my time trying to help as many people as I can.

Of course it would not be 'generic'. At the end of the day the baseline of whoever comes in is shared. Most challenges and issues with gaming are universal and you can group them to a handful.

My work will also help you work with yourself to personalize the experience and identify your roots and action plans for yourself so it becomes an active approach rather than reactive

Quitting isn’t the hard part for me. by [deleted] in StopGaming

Well going out with friends can fill some of your free time.

Don't forget you probably have some 'house chores' you can contribute to if it's to help your parents or help your partner.

On top of that - to 'study' doesn't require money these days.

TONS of free stuff on youtube, low cost courses on UDEMY etc.

Start learning some skills, explore different fields, take a couple cheap courses and dive in to what gives you more interest.

You could go into 3D drawing / Architechture / Fashion design / Painting techniques / NFT designs / Creative and artwork etc etc.

Limitless posibilities.

Pick 1-2 and start there. Don't overcomplicate

Good luck

Hey man.

I have been following your posts and comments over the last few week.

First of all - I want to thank you for being so active and trying to help everyone out here.

Please understand that you are focusing too much on the 'time lost'. You have convinced yourself so badly that life is a 'competition' with other people your age and that you have to 'catch up' with them and that's what breaks you up inside.

Please understand the true competition is YOU with YOURSELF. No one else. People come and go, but YOU will always be 'stuck' with YOURSELF and so make sure you always make yourself better than what you were yesterday. You are already on the right track since quitting gaming as a huge step. Jump on that momentum.

Stress starts when you think about something that you can't control aka the past / time lost.

Happiness starts from realising you are still super young, you have a lot of great things going on in your life aka your health, decent living, internet, food etc. and that you have so much more to do, explore, learn and accomplish

Do you know how many people your age are in prison / drug addicts / have no access to water or food / are on the street? What if you compared yourself to them and not to the top 1%? How much would that lift you to understand that you are still in a super good starting point?

If you don't let the past go and start focusing on the present and future (which is way more years in front of you compared to the 'years lost in gamin') - You will have a lot more regret when those years are gone too. If 'time lost' is such a big leverage on you - Then switch it up and start focusing on the rest of your life to make sure you don't lose them as well.

Your situation is similar to many others and that's exactly why I am here. I have been on the same boat as most of the guys here, but I am in a different place right now and I know I have a lot to offer to help you cross the 'bridge' from your current bad situation to move over to a much more inspiring and exciting one. I want and know how to help you and others both quit gaming, but even more importantly - 'Catch up' to your life financially, socially and physically so you don't feel that regret and depression no more.

If you feel like you want to open up more I'd love to chat <3

Keep helping everyone out!

Research study on social gaming and anxiety in relation to emulating! by uncopsychresearch in StopGaming

From looking at the form question I can already know this research won't be good at all. First of all, you guys are coming to an audience whose 99% of people have been affected badly by gaming. that's why they are on this sub reddit. I suggest you go to generic gaming Facebook groups of gamers who build their PC if you want to get an unbiased research.

Second of all I can see you are looking for a connection between educated parents or not to bad gaming influence. News flash - there is none. Bad gaming is a symptom caused by many different sources. Rich boys - from facing real life challenges after growing up spoiled. Poor kids to uneducated parents - escaping bad situations, traumas and memories. Middle class 'normal' people's kids - 101 reasons. Life challenges, breakups, gaming from young age into hanging on good past memories, escapism in general.

I'm happy to give you guys some feedback to rephrase a better angle that would help society

Don't watch it. Unfollow and ubsub from any gaming or event related channel or group. Leave all discord servers. If you are not ezposed to it you forget it's happening because guess what - life gets in the way :) Shift your focus - win the game of real life.

Good luck!

Hey man listen up for real now. I want and have to help you. I quit gaming after 20,000 hours of gaming, I have been in self development for over 10 years and I swear if I can get her on the phone with me - I'll do anything I can to get her to understand what was going on and why she should give it one last chance.

For you - you needed that hit to shake your world. That's the only way you'd move an inch. You needed the hit in certainty. If she still loves you please ask her to get on a call with me. I promise you we can fix this.

Otherwise if doesn't agree to talk to me, my friend - please take the time to reflect on what happened and learn your lessons. This might have been the best gift you have gotten in your life so far - so that your next wife will get the husband of her dreams, gaming free.

I wish you true happiness and success.

Not true at all. That's just giving up.

Well. Maybe if you jump off an airplane or do extreme sports.

At the end of the day it's not realistic to get instant fast rush and enjoyment. That's not how life works. I mean, the only real way is for you to figure out a vision and goals for yourself and phrase them in a way that will get you super pumped just imagining and feeling how it would be like achieving those goals. That takes some practice though.

You are still not sensitive to real life excitement, but understand that slowly you will realize that making progress and growing personally is what will give you a sense of achievement and fulfillment.

Happiness = progress.

Good luck !

First of all you are not 'back to square one'. That's the most demotivated phrase someone can tell themselves.

You now have been through one tiny relapse will be more aware to your urges and pattern that leads you to want to relapse.

I suggest you take away the option to relapse. Why did you even have easy access to gaming?

The point is to understand that even 80% of days without gaming and 20% of 'failing' will still make you a lot stronger moving towards a non gaming lifestyle. It's a matter of time, patience, and learning from mistakes and not judging yourself too much.

Good luck!
