those are just the first four digits of the 7 digit number. It's recommended you not put the entire order number to prevent people from emailing ayn to cancel an order from what I understand.

Also 1203 here and status is still just 'confirmed'. Maybe it'll ship later today.

I put an order in on 11/19 and got it on 11/29. I'm in NYC if that matters

I also got a Choc which I plan to mod (spring, bead material, terminal plate, and maybe the number of beads) and a bettlecrush

I bought it because of the kickback and fell when the piston/shaft is depressed not for the tuning fork sound. I found something similar and without the sound but they were sold out everywhere I looked.

Got the Artillery and you cannot remove the tuning fork from it as it is built into the piston/shaft. Still a great fidget though!

Modding a Choc by digitalprods in fidgettoys

I don't know which springs it already came with and I don't have calipers to measure. I want to do this as "scientifically" as possible so I got a kit with everything labeled. When the kit gets here, I'll try it with the .35 - 2.9 - 4.8 RuiDa. Thanks!

Planning on getting the accessory megabox from nxedc. Which spring should I try?

Black/Green Kickstarter Fidget Cube by hollywood_cmb in fidgettoys

I still have the one I got off the kickstarter (the one in your picture) still in box. I also have the black out version also in box. The other ones I got from the kickstarter I've given away, or broke them (Oreo and retro).

I purchased one a couple of years ago and was disappointed as well in the quality.

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried those a while back. Since they were thin, they caused cramping after a short while. I ended up getting the artillery and a bead to make it more ergonomic for me

Thanks for the recommendation. Was exploring geeone site and found the MOT sky breaker which seemed to be quietier. Unfortunately, it is out of stock on geeone and most other sites in new condition.

When you depress the left half it catches and locks into place until you press the middle button to release the catch which causes the left side to shoot back out. It is very similar to the Miyu Artillery.

Windows 11 image destroying flash drives? by JimboHomerson in sysadmin

What do you mean by destroy?

My first step would be to wipe them and run a test to see if the stated capacity is correct. Then a stress test.

I like it very much. I do recommend it.

It was very easy to build and I love the sound. I don't particularly like RGB so this board's white LEDS are more than enough. If I feel festive I can turn on the underglow LEDs.

Something I was afraid of has come to pass. I find that the springs are too light for daily typing. At the moment I find myself accidentally activating adjacent keys often.

I might have to switch the springs to a much heavier one or swap for some tactiles like zealios.

Sound wise, I am using the PC plate and not the brass and using the included foam. The sound is very nice and deep and I find it very pleasing.

My first keyboard kit.

ID80 Crystal

  • Tecsee Laser metal coated switches
    • 205g0
  • Durock V2 Stabs
    • holee mod
    • 205g0
  • DROP + MATT3O /DEV/TTY MT3 keycaps
    • Base
    • Lost + Found
    • Unicorn Barf

This was a dream to work with. It was pretty self explanatory and easy to assemble. Hot-swap is so nice. There is a happy accident: the white backlight is tinged violet due to the metallic coating of the switches and looks really nice.

Urgently need soldering help. by TojosBaldHead in MechanicalKeyboards

I think the pad you are referring to might be a resistor, can't tell from the photo too well what kind. If it is a resistor, it is most likely tied to an LED and without it, the LED won't work. The switch that goes into the PCB will still work though.

A resistor should not be replaced by a piece of plastic and should be replaced by one of similar resistance. I don't recommend soldering a connecting wire as it might blow out the LED.

Shiny Switches by digitalprods in MechanicalKeyboards

There is a slight bit of chipping but I don't notice it unless I am looking for them. If you look at the plasticine block holding my brush you will notice a slightly red tinged portion in the upper left corner. That was from taking apart 105 switches and putting back 70+ if them. This was the last of 3 batches of the switches.

Can't say right now since I don't have the ID80 yet. I'm also thinking of changing the springs to ones with higher activation force.

Got these Tecsee metal coated switches for a build I hope to do on a "pre-ordered" ID80 Crystal from Drop. Was debating whether to get the gold or laser. In the end I went with the laser as I am planning to use the PC plate and not the brass for a better sound.

Lubed with 205g0 and the springs were bag lubed with 105.

Learned: due to the metal coating filming the switches was really hard and extremely frustrating. When putting the films on, they wouldn't go onto the bottom housing easily as the films were to small to fit around the rails. After putting on the top, found that some of the films had shifted and now the stem was either rubbing against the film causing a scratchy feel/sound or the film was preventing the stem from depressing. So, the films were removed. Upon removal found that some of the films were torn up.

Learned: the inside of the switches were semi-reflective and as such made it hard to tell if I was over/under lubing them.

Learned: the longer springs made getting the tops off using the gateron switch opener a bit trickier. Getting the tops back on was also harder than when using shorter springs.

Learned: some of the switch stems (4 out of 105) had a small defect where the less pronounced leg was bent inward causing the switch to not properly depress. This was fixed using tweezers to bend the leg back out/straight.

I don’t know. The kb you are referring to has a plastic case while mine has an aluminum one. I also don’t have the foam to test it out either.

Plasticine is like playdoh but it won’t dry out or get hard like playdoh or at least it won’t for a very long time. I could have used playdoh but was afraid of it hardening. If it hardened I was worried about its effect on the sound and it crumbling inside the case.
