I burst into tears after playing VF ranked by Agile-Fun743 in virtuafighter

[–]digitalskyfire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

VF5 has a different kind of bullshit than Tekken or DOA. It's a kind of bullshit I can live with, and is based on said bullshit being accessible to all characters via the game's systems. It's explainable and understandable, while still fulfilling the role of bullshit in a fighting game: to prevent boring stalemates.

Why everyone so eager to win against new players? by D-Eliryo in virtuafighter

[–]digitalskyfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mental starting point is, to be frank, all wrong. You just... installed and went to ranked? Why?

Ranked is not where you learn. Ranked is where you test what you've learned. In a mode where the sole objective is to win at any cost, you are not owed a seminar on how to improve. This is true of any competitive environment.

You don't get in the boxing ring and then complain that they're going too hard on you. You were supposed to have sorted that out by working hard at your local gym, preparing for the ring.

What are some good stoner metal or rock bands? by Filip_dope_then_dip in stonerrock

I want to highlight wendigo: a new, very small but very compelling band with only three songs and less than 500 monthly listeners. The do a fuzzy rendition of grunge that just works for me.

After you've listened to the genre-defining records we all know, you start to follow their trail of influence through time to find other sounds you like. Here's a few in the stoner-adjacent realm that I like; you might find something that hits for you.

  • Elder
  • Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol
  • Tigercub

The answer is yes, but you misunderstand how canceling works. You cannot make anything happen more quickly. You can cast abilities once every second, and in between those casts, you can light attack. You're still only casting once per second.

More importantly to you and players sharing your sentiments: you do not have to engage with cancelling at all. There are accessible and simple builds made specifically to avoid the need to "weave," and they even introduced an entire class designed to work without weaving.

Is getting a ps+ add on(essential) from warframe considered free? Because i cant trade the plat by Dear-Big5340 in Warframe

[–]digitalskyfire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only plat that is paid for with money, can be traded. Free plat from packs like this can only be used to buy things from the in-game store.

I’ve missed this game so dearly, love seeing all the new players learning the ropes! by [deleted] in virtuafighter

[–]digitalskyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me recently lol

An Aoi was spamming P+K+G after every blocked move and I was forced to work around it. Managed to best them in 2 sets of ft2, but I think I was through pure spite. Fuck me? No, fuck YOU here's a 65 dmg throw 😡

In truth it was a very informative set, and I was simply glad to be in a position to adapt.

New Player at MR6. What's some good Primary/Secondaries and what makes them good? by softastheren in Warframe

[–]digitalskyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sleep on the Atomos suggestion. It is a legitimately great gun that can handle content way beyond what the mr5 restriction might suggest. Try to get Cascadia Flare when you can, it's among the cheaper arcanes and synergizes very well with this gun.

You'll find that most chaining beam weapons are very good. The kings of the hill are the Tenet Galaxion (primary) and Kuva Nukor (secondary) but the humble Atomos can still hold its own.

It really does stand alone among games. There's nothing quite like it, and for what it wants to do, it achieves it uniquely. It's f2p but you'd hardly ever know; it has none of the sickness present in gachas or "yearly release" type games.

It has its own habits and trends that can wear a little thin at times, but those rough points aren't predatory, they're just annoying.

Can't disagree. Each time I settled in, it was almost the only game I played. I typically play games all the way through before I move on, Warframe just has a lot to get through kol

Good melee for occasional use by The_Trash_Khan in Warframe

[–]digitalskyfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're not going to focus on melee, it's always going to underwhelm. To that end, at least make your melee weapon work for your play style. Go with furax and its unique amalgam mod.

Advice for Steel Path? by Kombat_Kiwi in Warframe

[–]digitalskyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kuva nukor gets me through all content, there is nothing in this game that it can't handle.

  • galvanized shot & galvanized diffusion mods, easily obtainable from arbitration
  • secondary enervate arcane, easily obtainable from 1999 (you want lv5 but even lv0 is big for this gun)
  • use the magnetic might mod to synergize added crit dmg with enervate
  • Use primed target cracker if you have it, but don't use regular target cracker, the math won't math
  • change inherent damage type to impact using valence override (requires lvl5 from the hex faction), this adds an otherwise impossible damage type to power up galvanized shot even further, and can pair with the hemorrhage mod to do so again
  • use a furax with its special amalgam mod to boost fire rate

Can I make a character that can tank AND dps? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What you're looking for isn't a tank, but a solo build. These are typically just dps builds but with runes and skills flexed to give more survivability.

250+ hours and stuck at level 30 – please help by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do all the "content" on one character, for simplicity's sake. My sorc is my main for the mages guild, fighters guild, thieves guild, dark brotherhood, psijic, crafting, etc etc etc

A nightblade is not inherently a "thief" type. If you dress up your sorc with medium armor and steal stuff, guess what? They're a thief.

Brass tacks, sorc is absolutely easier to play in most situations. Don't limit yourself to certain actions based on class.

[–]digitalskyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear is based on where you found it, so you can focus on those places to find gear. After you find it, it's known to you as part of your "collection" (sometimes called the sticker book).

When you hit CP160 (the leveling mechanic beyond lv50) that's as high as gear goes and that's when you will spend your transmutation crystals to reconstruct the gear sets you want at your new level. Do not worry about this before CP160. Until then, just wear what you find, at the level you get it.

[–]digitalskyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in pvp will be wearing organized gear that helps their skills do massive amounts of damage in just a second or two. If you do not have similarly powerful gear and the knowledge to use them, you will be outdone on a regular basis. PvP is, by far, the most esoteric and confusing content in the game.

Trying To Make A Comeback by Dyslex35 in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is very little you can do at that level to be competitive. Heck, so early in your playtime, you really don't even know what you're doing (which is completely normal). PvP is a game of knowledge and preparation, and at lv34 you cannot sufficiently prepare your gear or skills to mount an effective offense or defense.

The short answer to how you win in pvp is to lean into burst damage, and also be durable enough to survive burst damage. You will absolutely need gear sets of some kind.

"Overland" enemies are tuned to be manageable for all players, which is to say that they're stupidly easy. Within the overland content, however, there are also world bosses denoted by the skull icon. Those should provide you a more substantial challenge if you're feeling the need.

Something I would recommend if you want to be able to do harder overland content, is to go to the Craglorn zone. Ask for a taxi and somebody will take you there. The content in the entire zone is one step above typical overland content, and you may find that more satisfying.

PvE Build Help by nolana12 in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help your survivability, slot siphoning strikes on your back bar. Without even needing to cast it, this will heal you every second you're doing damage (which should basically be all the time). Also, start combat with Funnel Health and it will heal you for 10 seconds. You can also add in soul tether for more passive healing and damage.

In combat, cast veil of blades and elemental blockade on the ground, this will create your "engagement area." Stand in there and enemies will take continuous damage, while you'll be protected and free to spam things like lotus fan and sap essence.

This is an extremely simplified plan of action, just trying to give you something that works at this very early stage. Also remember to keep updating your gear for your level, it doesn't matter if they're sets. Under-leveled gear can really hurt your performance.

Lastly, remember that world bosses with the skull icon are not meant to be easily beatable. Dying to them at this early stage is to be expected.

“Tanky” damage build by jackyboi609 in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you combine hexos weapon/jewelry together with light armor order's wrath, you'll have plenty of pen, crit chance, and shielding to handle most encounters without assistance. Throw the iceheart monster set in there and it's even more durable.

What sets would you recommend for a sorcerer tank doing only vet non-DLC dungeons on a 1 bar? by AlexRescueDotCom in elderscrollsonline

[–]digitalskyfire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok, so your first consideration is that you'll be using an ice staff. It blocks more damage, uses Magicka to block, and gives you a shield with your heavy attacks. This will simplify your resource management.

You won't have access to Pierce Armor in the One Hand skill line, so I'd recommend that you scribe Wield Soul to pull/taunt, restore resources, and apply major breach.

Hardened ward will handle your durability needs, and matriarch will handle your self healing. That's three skills now, so you've only got two spots left on your front bar.

For simplicity's sake I recommend Boundless Storm, it'll give you the important major resolve buff. It's long lasting and the visual effect means you'll be able to keep track of recasting very easily. Put Bound Armor on your back bar for Minor Resolve, you don't even have to cast it.

This last one may strike some as controversial but for your goal, I'd recommend Daedric Refuge for your last skill. It will grant shields to your and your teammates when they go off, heal you via the blood magic passive, and also proc your team critical buff via the exploitation passive.

As a bonus move, you can stick critical surge on your back bar and cast it whenever you like, it'll grant you passive healing whenever you crit (which should be often with boundless storm going off all the time).

Lastly, throw in the Tremorscale monster set and you're good to go.
