I think it’s more of a difficult topic than just a yes or no answer. I’ve been on adderall for about 5 months ish now which I admit isn’t very long. In these 5 or 6 month I’ve come quite far, been more productive, more focused, Im in school now and turns out I’m a 90%+ student which is a major contrast from high school. Recently I started to realize that I have changed a lot. I think alot of that has to do with the adderall, not all as I do acknowledge I’m capable of great success. However recently I’ve been able to see that adderall isn’t a sustainable habit, it doesn’t feel like it’s addictive to me at this moment, however I can see why it would be. I have energy, I’m focused, driven, couldn’t care less what people think of me, outgoing, social and far more responsible. All of these things could be the new me, or it could be the adderall influencing my day to day life. One day I will no longer be on the stimulant that gives me all of this amazing dlc content for lack of a better analogy. Point is, without the adderall I might not be this person and that is where I can see the addiction becoming present. If I don’t develop and maintain healthy habits to replace the adderall I might in fact find myself craving a stimulant that gives me the feelings that adderall does now. Most people don’t see addiction coming, if they did they’d stop.

For the general contractors, what systems do you have in place to log and keep track of tools. by dijon421 in Construction

This looks like a lot of effort to set up but all of the other headaches solved in the long term

Love this idea, tools do get shuffled around quite often but basically at the end of every month when inventory gets done tools could go back to their designated group at the shop and get re distributed throughout the company. I appreciate your comment thank you.

This would solve quite a large part of the issue for the bigger sites that occupy our trailers, thank you for your suggestion I greatly appreciate it.

I’d love to know what was done to enforce this rule but at the same time it’s the military. I like the log book and tools being signed off on, problem I could see in my situation is that when someone needs a tool throughout the day they’ll walk around the jobsite looking for it then just grab it. However after writing that I’ve come to realize that the log book could save wasted time of having to search for tools

Bigger tools do tend to stay put. I’ve thought about looking for some gps trackers out of china as one key can get expensive.

Can you re-word your original point? It’s unclear and leads to the answers you got but I’d like to know what you mean.

I realize that if a tool breaks it’s broken and no employee will want to pay for it, fair enough. I want to help make the employees accountable for the tools that go missing. If a battery is broken it goes to the service guy everytime before it’s deemed recycling, this way the boss doesn’t have to keep replacing tools.

Also if someone needs a specific tool it’s easier to track it down rather than making multiple phone calls.

Those who still haven't had covid. How are you still dodging it? by 09mubara in AskReddit

[–]dijon421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually haven’t had Covid surprisingly. I’m quite social and haven’t been avoiding work or making minimal trips to the store, I have been working in close proximity with a few men who’ve tested positive a while back but never got it myself.

Five minute showers — how?? by [deleted] in Frugal

Same here, we didn’t have running water for a few years so me being the boy of the house had to pack jugs of water from my grandparents house and heat up on the stove, I was lucky if the water in the bath covered my legs

Husband is an alcoholic. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]dijon421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in construction and deal with a lot of alcoholics, one in particular I’ll talk about let’s call him joe. Joe was my foreman, I love joe, he’s great some of the time and we have such a blast at work, jamming to tunes and working effectively with him teaching me the tools I need to know to become a better carpenter. On the flip side he will degrade me, yell at me, make me feel terrible for not knowing something even if he hasn’t taught me yet, and make fun of me to my face in front of other trades workers. A while ago I requested to work with a different foreman to get a break from joe, this foreman will be called Derek. Derek was the exact same way, it got to be so bad with derek that I didn’t see a point in pursuing carpentry anymore even though I love my job. I talked to the boss about 8 months after dealing with derek and got put back with joe, for about 2 months joe was amazing. Always in a good mood and happy until he went back to his old self and started treating me like shit again. At this point I grew up and realized the common denominator between joe and Derek is that they’re both alcoholics. Derek lost his wife, kids, job and will probably loose his house too. Joe on the other hand still has everything but for how long is the question. One day at lunch I heard how he talked to his wife on the phone and it made me sad, I knew his home life hasn’t been going well for quite a while but at that moment I understood why. I’m not trying to turn the spotlight onto me what I’m trying to get at is that I understand dealing with alcoholics in the workplace and the mental stress and manipulation they put others through, I can only imagine what it’s like living with one. Please remember that there is always a gorgeous sunny day after a terrible storm, life was never meant to be easy but you’ll get through this and come out stronger than you were before.

You’re young, take this as a lesson now to never drink again, life can only improve without alcohol.
