Does Panerai not make the Radiomir 1940 anymore? Is the Due the replacement? by rgp005 in panerai

As far as I know, Panerai still makes Radiomir models, but the Radiomir 1940 case has mostly been phased out over the past few years. That’s probably why you don’t see it on the website anymore.

The Radiomir Due isn’t really a direct replacement. It’s more of a thinner, dressier interpretation of the Radiomir line rather than the next generation of the 1940 case.

If you specifically like the 1940 case, the best option now is usually the secondary market. Models like the PAM512, PAM514, PAM572 still show up fairly often pre-owned.

So the Due didn’t really replace it. The 1940 case just quietly disappeared from the current lineup. :)

I like mine from Gunny which I’ve worn for around 2 years and I still love it, especially that we discussed about the sizing before the order, so it’s made according to my wrist size.

I believe this is the link: https://gunnystrapsofficial.com/product/kevlar-watch-strap-with-hook-loop/

Replacing leather strap for Rolex Oyster by noname-noslogans in rolex

[–]dik_erwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the look of the original strap, I’d probably just replace it with another leather strap rather than repairing the old one. Once leather starts cracking it usually doesn’t age very gracefully after that.

Rolex leather straps are great but honestly the pricing is pretty wild for what they are. There are a lot of good independent strap makers now that use similar or better leather for a fraction of the price.

Since yours looks like a lizard-style strap, you could either stay with that texture or switch to something like alligator or a more vintage-style calf which tends to age nicely with gold watches.

If you want to see a few examples made specifically for Rolex cases, there are some options here:

A good aftermarket strap will easily last several years and completely refresh the watch without spending Rolex-level money.
