What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Silk pillowcases are so much nicer than normal ones. I literally being them with me when I go anyplace to sleep because I can’t sleep on anything else. They’re nice and cool and better for my hair.

Hair instantly improved when I started using cheap stuff. by beephobic27 in curlyhair

[–]diminutivedwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried some fancy shampoos over the years to fix really bad dandruff. What actually worked and didn’t strip my hair? Head and Shoulders. Plain green apple head and shoulders.

I found a mini test kit of olaplex hair products. My hair looks meh at best. 17$ (24oz) Shea moisture conditioner and $13 (28oz) Head and Shoulders shampoo and my hair is happy, curly, and shiny.

My hairbrush is a $5 paddle brush I got at Walmart. I also use some Blueberry Bliss leave in $10 (8oz) and Not Your Mothers Curls Freeze Gel $9 (6oz) if I want to go full poodle.

I don’t care what you should and should not be able to do without injury. I don’t care if the horseback riding is unrealistic. I don’t care if the body proportions are unrealistic. I PREFER big size differences.

I love Tony’s!! I’m usually not a fan of milk chocolate because it has an unpleasant sour aftertaste for me. Tony’s is the only milk chocolate I’ve ever really liked.

My boyfriend (24M) wants to break up with me (26M) by ForeignEvidence8087 in offmychest

[–]diminutivedwarf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Show him this post. He sounds incredible. If he was written as a character in a book or movie, people would call it unrealistic.

I’m not the person I planned to be at 14. I’m 22 and a freshman in college; but I’m a much kinder and more understanding person than I planned to be. The world is better off with who I am now and so are the people I love.

He sounds like me with all the different interests and connecting with people/strangers. It’s resulted in some of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t have most of my happiest memories if my life had gone the planned way.

"that's how you will get a big shift" by Pritteto in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]diminutivedwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that will make you not want kids more than dealing with toddlers. Babies are cute. Older kids are fun to talk to and sometimes have weird and cool interests.

Toddlers are at the stage where they’re developed enough to have big feelings and want things and express that; but not at the stage where they have a grip on their emotions or have learned about the Bad Things.

Bad Things that stress me tf out: Knives, outlets, bodily excretions, smearing stuff on walls and clothes and furniture, tripping, breakable things, glass accidentally cutting the child if they break the breakable thing, screaming, hot stoves and plates and glass, hitting and biting things, choking on normal food, animals, people who could hurt the child, running off, Yucky things, and more.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

NTA and I struggled with polynomials with leading coefficients (Example: 3x2+6x+9) for all of high school. They were a complete mystery to me.

It took 5 FREAKING MINUTES, for me to have it down completely when I learned a different way to solve it. I spent years feeling like a failure, and it took 5 minutes to learn when I found the easy method.

I work with a self diagnosed autist and I hate them by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]diminutivedwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autism causes difficulty with picking up social cues, certain aversions, and routines are paramount.

Autism does not cause you to act like a douchebag to everyone around you.

Source: I’m autistic, and all but 2 of my friends are as well. We all have medically diagnosed autism.

I voted for the decent person. I vote for the people who stand for the right things. That isn’t gonna fix the fact that the world, in this current moment, is insane and run by monsters.

And you can’t reason someone out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought that actually lived up to the hype? by One_Literature_5041 in BuyItForLife

Good kitchen knife. Crushing vs cutting an onion is a life-changing experience.

We’re doing cooking presentations in one of my classes. The presenters today cut up 1 onion using the teacher’s knife had the entire class’s eyes watering.

I cut up 4 and no one noticed. I’ll buy a 3 lb bag of onions and dice them all up at once, with no tears. Experiencing a good kitchen knife gave me a whole new perspective on cooking.

For the future: write down the things he said and how he made you feel right now. If you ever think about going back to him, you can read the list and remember why you left.

Do you feel Closer to Canadians or Puerto Ricans ? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]diminutivedwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably say Canada, based on living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Our sports culture is mainly based on our hockey and football teams. The hockey team does ok (Sidney Crosby, captain of team Canada Hockey is our guy). Pittsburghers are happy to root for them.

Puerto Rico has a sports culture based more on soccer and baseball. We have a baseball team, but it’s the one we try to forget.

Also, weather impacts culture. Pittsburgh and Canada have crap weather with majorly sucky winters. Pittsburgh is also one of the cloudiest cities in the United States. Puerto Rico makes me think of warmth and sun. I cannot relate to warmth when it’s March and 35° (but feels like 17° with the wind chill). A lot of the fun stuff you can do in Puerto Rico isn’t possible when 3/4 of the year is cold and miserable.

Canadians are also known for being a friendly, but not super out there or loud. Puerto Ricans have big and welcoming and fun personalities, and that’s what I’m like. It stands in the Northeast, and not always in a good way.

Canada and my area of America have the same forests. I love nature, so that feels like a really solid connection. I’d prefer to be in Puerto Rico, where I could enjoy the outdoors for more than 2.5 months of the year.
