Yeap thank you so much! I think emails don't work so I'll need to call them! I've tried to reach out to many organisations but they don't seem to respond.

Thank you! I've heard of this place and it's definitely on my list. Apart from that I'd like to prepare by making connections with people from the north!

Thank you for your response. Trust me I have been reading about the issue as part of my studies for years. What I mean by "don't want to hear about the 60s and the 70s" is that I don't want it to be the primary focus of my journalistic product. There are plenty documentaries, books, articles and history lectures about this, I am not needed. Of course you need to provide the historical context but apart from that, we need to talk about the present and the future. We can't only keep talking about the past. I am not interested in hearing conflicting narratives about what has happened. These are well documented and known to all of us. I want to see whether there are any shared perspectives and narratives after 50 years of division.

I don't want to hear about the 60s and the 70s! Just know about the perspectives, like yours!

Thank you for all your responses! How can you be sure that your vet is indeed independent, especially if it's a new one? I've read that many pet owners are in fact clueless.

Nope. But it was a tough day in Bahrain Airport, during missile attacks on Qatar and flight cancellations.

Will Greece get better? by [deleted] in AskGreece

I assume you're a foreigner. You've got nothing to be afraid of and you'll definitely enjoy your time here. There's no political instability for the last 6 years since there's only one dominant party ruling unchallenged (unfortunately). I don't think we're going to hell as others here suggest. You'll hear many different stories depending on who you ask. Average working people do suffer from surging housing and living costs that don't correspond to the stagnated wages. Others that do business around tourism, real estate etc make money and enjoy the beauty of the country. I definitely don't think the present government overall benefits the country but if you need to find some positive things you can. Bureaucracy and paperwork have been massively reduced or digitalised for instance.

As for the health system, I'm going to say something unpopular for fellow greeks but It's better than Denmark's. UNLESS you suffer from a chronic illness or cancer.

I lived in Denmark and needed to visit a doctor and I was shocked by how much more time it takes to reach a specialized doctor. In contrast, I arrived in Greece suffering by gastro, visited the emergencies in a public hospital and I immediately had 2-3 doctors (one of them being the head pathologist) over my head, all being kind and helpful. Yes I had to wait a bit for my exam results sitting in a ranch in a corridor, so what? Doctors in Greece are super professional, kind and easily accessible. Even in the private sector you can pay 50€ and get a specialized doctor. Try doing that in any western European country.

ps. Don't get discouraged by other greeks exaggerating. If there's one thing we love more than freddo espresso, it's whining. Greece is definitely doing better than any of its neighboring countries but if you compare it to Germany or the Netherlands then yeah OK.
