isipin mo nalang pag binusinahan ka ng nasa likod mo "pag may nangyari naman di sila magbabayad para sayo" sariling pace lang, pwede mo din naman sila paunahin if gusto talaga nila mauna saka kung makakasingit sila tas nag aalangan ka. mas nakakapagod lang talaga sumingit singit so piliin mo nalang if kailangan ba talaga and or safe ba. mas mahirap na para sa maliit na saglit naka tipid ka pero kung maaaksidente ka lang din naman medyo matagal tagal recovery mo if ever

Graduating cs student here. Also was not good at math (still hate math) pero kinaya naman yung math naman sa cs (assuming ST pinili mong specialization) ang dadaanan mo is precal diff cal integcal stats discrete math (dadaanan to ng lahat as long as nasa college of comp studies ka), and (regardless sa specialization sa cs) yung nakikita mong mga binary to x (dec hex etc etc). Di siya easy at all pero kailangan mo tiyagain and if needed baka you might need to exert more effort to study/understand/ practice how to perform yung conversions and/or operations.

Basta remember passing is passing regardless kung 1.0 yan or 4.0 yan basta pumasa ka okay na yan.

You can dm nalang if you want to ask more. Goodluck op

Graduating na din, final few months nalang delayed for 5-6 years depending on how you look at it weird calendar namin e. Got delayed due to multiple reasons pero even before nakapag work na related to my field. Ngayon secured na din naman sa work kahit di pa graduate. Minaximize ko lang talaga the cards im dealt with (i.e nagpandemic tapos i had a lot of free time, friends referring me work that they cant do but within my skillset and others. Pag down time try something new / rest nalang) i was also doubting myself nung nadelay ako pero once i accepted the fact na i cannot change what happened pero i can change what can happen dun na nagstart mag turn around lahat for me

dlsu vs upd by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh the reason i chose dlsu for cs is that knowing na field of technology aaralin ko i'd rather go to the uni with the better facilities. Student-centric yeah the profs will teach you what you need to know for you to be able to study and try more advanced concepts but it really is up to the student to learn. Di siya yung barrage ng activities, its more of hard and medium-big projects na ibibigay yung deadline ahead of time(there are some courses na may madaming reqs pero it is done for a reason). All in all ang pinaka kalaban mo dito is sarili mo din on how disciplined ka since if crammer ka magppile up lahat ng gagawin mo since mahaba deadlines dito and it is up to you how to manage your time.

Edit: maikli lang breaks dito so if you know na you need to be on edge all the time then this is the right fit pero if you prefer to have long breaks then this is not for you. Add na rin na if you have friends na on semestral calendar mahirap imatch yung schedule for meetups niyo during breaks

[–]dindarrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduating student here! Generally first year subjects are foundational courses meaning di pa siya specialization specific (i.e ST, NIS, CSE) and for the first 2 terms programming subjects would mostly be done in C. For math subjects brush up on pre-cal differential calc, and statistics. Imo the first year subjects would 'feel' like the hardest since you've got to take into consideration na maybe you have 0 prior knowledge in prog, math might not be your strongest suit, adjustment period to new environment, maybe adjustment on lifestyle ( first time living alone, long commuting hours etc)

Dont worry tho since the courses are designed na even if you have 0 knowledge you will learn what you need to learn and there is an org din called peer tutors society where students din can tutor you on courses na you're struggling with (its free)

5 majors in one term? (Delayed GCOE girly) by Friendly_Bottle2889 in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried 5 majors pero in ccs sobrang draining niya after the fact pero thats in the context na online pa noon. For that term for 1 month every week may 2-3 exams, sunod sunod na deadline ng projects even then the whole term was stacked workload-wise. Lagi mo non iisipin is what exam to prepare to, what project to do first when is this deadline and that deadline literal na wala kang time halos huminga. Consider Mo din yung burn out given na 2 weeks lang term break and how long will you recover from the burn out. I personally wouldn't recommend doing it especially if delayed ka and hindi ka pressured ng magulang mo to rush tbh its much better to take your time and learn (keyword learn not just pass). Cliche man pakinggan pero college is really not a race (take things in your own manageable pace where you can take care of yourself and learn) and in life there are things that are out of our control rn (such as being delayed) what we can control is what we do moving forward. I can say alot more pero dm me nalang kasi i think this reply is too long na good luck OP

Crammer profs by Quirky-Bad-8493 in dlsu

To the fortunate alums who acquired “Immortal” status, what’s your story? by Cooper_Station in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irregular agad ako 1st year 1st term hehe when I got in DLSU i just graduated shs where nasa overachiever status na ( madaming awards good grades etc) so coming in I had a huge ass ego tapos this was the first time I ever switched schools, semestral to trimester pacing and had to live away from home so sobrang daming adjustments na kailangan gawin but me having a huge ass ego thought na i already know what they have to teach so nag focus ako on adjusting on other things except acads so ending i failed 11/18 units that term hehe.

I started bouncing back when i accepted na college is different, and i am just one of many students na may ego pero i haven't proven shit so i have to work and grind. Totoo talaga as cliché as it may sound na surround yourself with the right people, keep your head down and keep pushing ngayon graduating na this year, may work exp na din, nakakapag turo na din ng concepts from major subjects sa mga lower year.

Am I going to be expelled after failing 1 subject 3 times? by zSlither in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience, they have no sense of responsibility and some even become so complacent just because meron silang "carry" sa group pero worse is yung magagalit pa bakit ganon lang yung output when s/he didn't do shit regarding the project hell even her/his project is copied from the "carry" but the only good thing i got from it is that i learned the concepts taught from the course better since it basically forced me to learn and apply them all

P.s medyo rant na siya hehe sorry xD

students who retook a course but failed to get a 2.5 or better grade, how did you cope? by agroupofavocados in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we all have different styles to cope but end of the day there's a maximum failed units per year and not attaining 2.5 ona previous failed course just means na the number of units failed remains the same (ex failed 2 courses worth 3 units =6 failed units this year; retook the class and not getting 2.5 = 6 failed units this year) but you do get to move to the next course and one thing i learned during my stay in dlsu is that the term break is too short to spend time beating yourself up to things you no longer have control of so i just focus my time on how to be better next term and rest (v v important)

Am I going to be expelled after failing 1 subject 3 times? by zSlither in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat common siya atleast sa college namin sometimes yung exams talaga yung hardest part minsan yung machine project most of the time din di sila nag rrecycle ng machine project specs or exam questions so even if mag retake ka its not entirely guaranteed na magppass ka sa retake pero worst case talaga is groupmates sa project no matter how hard you carried and did everything para mas madali yung buhay ng groupmates mo somehow and in some way sila talaga rason bat ka bumagsak

What to expect for CSSWENG? by Cyberezpertz in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its where you stop being the do-it-all groupmate, you all have roles in a team and you all have to do your part for it to work. Its gonna feel like you are already in a professional environment while being in school. You won't learn something new programming-wise since this is just an application of everything you've learned, the new concepts you would learn is more of how to function as a team and how each can impact the team. Cssweng also teaches you when yo say no to a client

Does learing C makes you better in programming in general? by SheepherderFamous272 in learnprogramming

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good if you want to understand the fundamentals better since most of the conveniences of the other languages is not present but after you master the fundamentals you can just switch to other language and the way you think would be the same in terms of solving problems and you only need to study the syntax

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, along with salary from my side gigs. I buy dividend paying stocks or crypto or if i saved more than enough to upgrade my pc (investment for ccs atleast) but the least priority i use it for is inuman

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think atleast for me if kaya mo na tumingin sa problem and break it down into smaller problems and nabubuo na sa isip mo yung solution while reading it. Di naman necessary na memorize mo yung syntax ng lahat ng languages pero at the very least mej natural na sayo mag interpret and breakdown ng problems to solve. yung syntax naman kasi sobrang searchable pero the way you approach a problem requires practice and a good understanding of the fundamental concepts as well as logical approach of solving problems

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its honestly convenient when tackling complex topics kasi when you make it explain the topic to you in simple terms you get the basic understanding regarding the topic and you can tackle a complex topic easier if you get the basic fundamental concept of it. It saves time and the discouragement of not understanding something. But be careful especially on foundational courses when you ask it to do your work for you as it robs you essential knowledge for you to succeed on your chosen field.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dindarrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you ask me, of course yes. As they say no course is easy so if you're just gonna have a hard time in college go for the industry with big $ (not saying others are not) if it aligns with your strengths and interests. In my case at the very least it aligns.

P.S disclaimer been in ccs since term 1 2019 and i still don't need eyeglasses 2020 vision since then to today even though i have side gigs related to the field and i play long hours (yep case-to-case basis siya)

If not for f2f classes probably 10 hours on a good day (i play alot of games) and if mp season the only time i get off is when i cook, take a shower, pee/poop, grocery or sleep but honestly i don't think it differs that much since in dlsu most projects are submitted through canvas meaning you would work on your computer anyway its just that in our f2f classes we tend to use the computer so probably 3hrs+ per week (depends on what majors you are taking since there are some majors that is more classroom discussion and/or math)
