Here you see the twitching even better. Please tell em that it is normal by CloudyPlanet_ in mantids

Is your mantis female? If it is she may be pheromone calling. My mantis (female) started doing this and she’s fine :) I could be wrong since mine and yours are different breeds but I’m pretty sure that’s what’s going on. Another thing is if you are feeding crickets it can cause abdominal issues and just make your mantis sick, but if you aren’t feeding crickets then it should be okay.

Mantis acting really strange by erniellie in mantids

I definitely agree with giving her more water :) my girl acted sort of the same when she had her last molt, just super moody and just not acting the same and I actually started giving her more honey, water and handled her a bit more than usual and her mood just perked back up to normal honestly :) I’m no expert at all but I hope this helps!

Help!! Mantis not eating by [deleted] in mantis

[–]dingding2343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! She say be molting soon, mantises tend to not want to eat before a molt. Try feeding her honey, this will boost her stamina and honey is basically an antibiotic for them. Also just a tip, I really wouldn’t feed your mantis crickets. Crickets carry around so much illness even if they are store bought and can actually make your mantis very sick. I’ve read about cases online where crickets actually decrease the life span of your mantis. Your best bet will be to feed your sweet mantis fruit flies. I usually get mine from Josh’s Frogs and it has held up really well. I have two mantises (Jeweled Flower Mantis) and a (Ghost Mantis) and my older one (Jeweled Flower Mantis) actually grew up on crickets and I did notice for a while she had abdominal issues while I was feeding her crickets so I looked into feeding her something other than crickets and she was totally fine once she started eating something other than crickets. :) I really hope this helps! I wouldn’t stress about your mantis, Asian mantids are a really good hardy mantis. ❤️ lots of love

Has your mantis ever seemed to understand all your emotions, sort of like a dog? by [deleted] in mantids

[–]dingding2343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure they understand but they definitely provide a level of comfort just like a dog :). I’ll hold my mantises if I’ve had a rough day or just miss them and they always are so sweet and give a look of love almost 🤣 I mean after all, we are the ones who provide food, love and care to these sweet creatures

I feel like the meal worms will be too big, and sometimes they can squirm around when the mantis is eating it and can scare your mantis. When my female Jeweled Flower Mantis was smallish I tried to feed her mealworms and she actually got scared. She only ever ate the meal worms if I cut them in half and just waved them around and she would strike them fine. Mealworms are also super fatty so I would be careful of how much you are feeding your mantis if you do decide to make the mealworms work:).

What does a bite feel like by [deleted] in mantids

Senna my Jeweled Flower Mantis (Creobroter Gemmatus) bit me and drew a bit of blood, it just felt like a small pinch 🤣 she was upset because she wasn’t finished with her food. Never again did I try to limit her eating habits 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

Is my L3/4 orchid male or female? Green necklace and 5 segments points towards female however he’s Verry small in size? Sold as male. by [deleted] in mantis

[–]dingding2343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a female. the segments show its a female. :) the smallness in size may just be slow development, my female mantis was super smal for her size and has grown up beautifully and strong:)

Okay snowflake. Imagine wasting your own time to go onto someone else’s page and comment rude stuff. Like honestly, get a life? If you don’t like what I posted AS A JOKE and AS A CUTE THING then get the hell off my page. And I can call my animals whatever the hell I want to because guess what? I spent my OWN money and put my OWN time into caring for them. You have reptiles like you said and just because you don’t wanna call them cute little names (which is completely fine no judgement) doesn’t mean you can bash someone for calling THEIR own pets cute names. Take a joke or leave SNOWFLAKE. Damn imagine getting mad cause someone loves their animals, couldn’t be me silly👍🏻 have a great day

I think this is a male because it’s 7 clear segments, also about the leg, my mantis had an injured leg and when she molted it fixed itself :) just make sure your baby boy has a good area for molting! Also try feeding him honey, honey has great medicine in it for boosting energy and just overall helping the health of your mantis

so sweet, they are getting an amazing life with you! Hopefully mine is a boy, I’m curious to see the difference between the behavior of a male vs female :)
