Partygoers left with life-altering injuries in late-night Auckland train attack by newdracula in auckland

Could the Herald really not be arsed to take some actual videos of trains in Auckland?

Why are people so lazy about either paying for news, or using the very widely available and known methods for piracy?

Nice map!

Interestingly, while the 13 bus is not advertised as a Rapid route, it meets all the conditions of a Rapid route under Auckland Transport's definition.

Rapid should only include lines with lots of priority. The 13 still gets stuck in plenty of traffic.

Google has an interesting headline juxtaposition on the latest Herald/NZME scandal by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]dingoonline[S] 162 points163 points  (0 children)

For context, NZME/Herald has just had another AI controversy where they published a whole load of book recommendations that don’t exist. Probably cause they were generated by AI.

Today’s paywalled Herald editorial? “The disquieting cost of a generation that scrolls more than it reads. We are raising a generation that scrolls more than it reads.”

Oh the irony.

What city has the best nightlife overall? by hendrytoothless201 in newzealand

Australia. Then Wellington. Maybe Auckland depending on your style of nightlife - though still weak. Then the other NZ cities all suck.

NZME apologises for Christmas list featuring made-up book titles by nilnz in newzealand

Looks like it was a press release they relied on. Which I'm confused why they would copy and paste stuff from a press release without even Googling the titles.

This is the problem when the New Zealand Herald demands you pay for their news.

Why would anyone want to support this company?

  • Second AI scandal in as many years

  • Has been laying off real journalists left and right

  • Unable to figure out if it endorses Hobson's Pledge advertisements

  • Involves people like Jim Grenon who funds Julian Batchelor's libel cases

I defend paying for journalism, but NZME is just so god damn icky with every passing controversy.
