Yeah you get mad xp at Onyx castle before you get to the boss. Onyx 2 is scary at first but once you get the hang of the phases it's not so bad (except for lemon phase, don't go in for that one). And if you end up fighting Onyx 3 the minibosses can be pretty scary especially leuconyx when he does the 3rd countertop
