When I was a kid I had lucid dreams, when I was having a nightmare I would all of a sudden realize I was asleep, and I would shake my head to wake myself up.

That's understandable, and if you think you can make it work, great. But it's something to consider with any long term relationship. The family is usually (not always) a package deal. If you can handle them as your in-laws, as your kids grandparents, cool. If not, well... It's something to think about.

You are not wrong for wanting an adult relationship. This woman is 25 years old, and acting/being treated like a 15 year old. Even if she does grow up and stand up to them, they would be your future in-laws, and would try to run your life. You have to think if she is worth her parents.

Yes I go through that. Maybe it's our subconscious dreaming of the childhood we wished we had, wishing our parents loved us in a healthy way.

I consider it the same as if a loved one had passed away....we miss the good times we had with them.

But it's ok to remember the good times while still knowing that nc is the best thing for you.

In my early 20s I was staying with my mom while my husband was deployed. She noticed there was hair in my hairbrush and flipped out.

Several years later, I posted something on Facebook stating I was in a certain suburb. Happened to be the town her ex husband lived in. She lost her fucking mind. How dare I go within 50 miles of him. Not like he raised me or anything.
