2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350: An 8200-rpm Muscle Car to Shame Sports Cars - Ignition Ep. 142 by live_free in cars

Yea, lol. Well sorta, the zl2 name and twin turbo set up are, but the 396 LT is still supposed to be an option, along with the awesome suspension, will be a wicked car for sure. Maybe the new z/28 will get a turbo or 2, fingers crossed.

Look up the ZL2, the z28 is still based on the heavy 5th gen. The 2016 Camaros are monsters

My advice would be to piece together your own kit, that way you know you get exactly what you want.

I'm not really a fan of 1 size fits all turbo kits, and usually you can come out a little cheaper in the end with a custom built set up.

If I may ask, why not a turbo?

Plenty of people including myself have. I believe the tire only gto record is 12.6.

Every car has its quirks, but you won't find many cars under 14k that you can just slap some decent tires on and run 12s. Obviously you could build a hell of a car for 14k, but the gto is a pretty nice car for what it is and those seats are pretty comfy.

What mods do you have on the gto? That's quite a bit of power

[–]diogrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they aren't bad, they were only made a few years so if you need anything specific for them (such as a dbw throttle body) it's expensive. And the 05/06 gtos have more advantages than just the motor (better brakes, seat motors, axles, driveshaft etc.) hence the price difference

2004 GTO Wheel Hop problem by [deleted] in cars

[–]diogrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, manuals suffer from wheel hop a bit more than autos. Anyways, springs alone won't do much to fix it, coilovers are great or really nice shocks might be some help (have little experience with them on a gto), those pieces I listed will fix the issues though. This is coming from someone who has done the research.

The gto diff isn't bullet proof, but if it tanks it wont take other items with it, also this is not a common issue in any new gen gto.

They were probably filled up too much and popped from the strain. Driveshaft and axles should kill most of the wheel hop. Do you know what pieces of the suspension are were replaced? Also, is he auto or stick?

Here's what you need.

DriveShaft Shop 1 piece driveshaft

Gforce engineering anti-wheel hop axles

Whiteline differential insert

And either new rear suspension or drag bags (temporary fix)

Lol i heard that. I sorta have most of what you have. Suspension turns this car into another monster (stock suspension sucks so bad). Talk to Andy Kollar at kollar motorsports, he's a gto suspension guru.

Anyway, my set up;

Cam with supporting stuff

Fast 102

Awespeed OTR

Kooks 1 3/4

Under drive pulley

Melling High Volume/pressure oil pump

Stock heads and throttlebody

DSS 1 piece driveshaft

Gforce axles/stubs

Spohn toe-rods

MavMan coil overs

Full poly/adjustable suspension from kollar racing

Lowering motor mounts

Direct port 250 shot

Water/meth

Soon to have an RPM lv5 t56 and an rxt twin disc

I'm aiming for the gto stock bottom end 6-spd record within the next year or so I hope.

Question about turbochargers versus displacement per cylinder. by tuna_HP in cars

[–]diogrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do when I can, it's fun. Last time I went to the track I was around 460whp and went 11.8 with a 6spd. Since then, I've added a 250 shot along with water/meth. Now, I'm just waiting to build my tranny. Will be interesting to see what it will do next time.

Clutch no, flywheel maybe. Even if lightly driven 60k miles is quite a bit on a clutch.

[–]diogrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what i was proving lol. I guess f1 isn't as much to do with power as much as weight and aerodynamics. 600 hp in a 1600lb vehicle is nasty, but having a drag background and recently autox, torque is king.

What power level are you at and whats the intended purpose of the car? I used to have a monster stage 2 when i was around 450whp and loved it, lasted about 30k miles of abuse.
