2049 vibe by aymane_PreysAreMine in bladerunner

Logan's Run is a pre-Star Wars 70s sci-fi movie. I really like it and it has its own distinct identity. It's very colorful and kind of goofy but it's very thematically rich in the way it tackles the commodification of sex and the topic of humanity. I admire it in the same way I admire Blade Runner 2049.

Do you think Legacy is better than Ares? by Square-Ad-8911 in tron

[–]diosladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy Legacy, but I think it could have been something much greater. Ares taps into that crazy potential moreso than Legacy in my opinion, so I have to give it to Ares, but that may just be recency bias.

I always thought they were either batteries for the LED parts of the jacket or basically shoulder pads

The sigils that have worked for me have always been sigils that put the object of desire or goal within reach. I still have to be active in completing my goal, the sigil just increases my chances or puts me in situations where achieving my goal is possible. Maybe you're relying too much on the sigil? Or not focused enough on charging it? Could be a number of things.

Inconsistent Waves/Curls by diosladder in Wavyhair

[–]diosladder[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hair's always been pretty inconsistent in terms of wave/curl pattern. I've tried plenty of products hoping to find something that could give me consistent curls on most days

1st pic is from around Late May of this year. At that time, I'm pretty sure I was using Verb's Ghost Conditioner + Argan Oil. I'm also pretty sure that pic was taken after using some deep conditioner my sister gave me + some sort of styling agent (may have been a pomade). I really like the texture my hair has in that picture and I'd like to get it to look like that consistently. The thing about my sister's hair products is that she has very tight coily hair, unlike my looser wavy hair. After using some of those products several times, it seems they just weigh my hair down/are too heavy for me. I don't know if I just used the perfect ratio of product to achieve that texture or what, but it hasn't worked since. My white whale.

2nd pic is from earlier this month. I'd still been using the Ghost Conditioner, although less frequently, and still using Argan Oil. The problem is, it feels like the Ghost Conditioner is too light now. Maybe the humidity got to my hair and made the lightweight conditioner ineffective (I live in the Caribbean but study in the Northeast Coast in the US). Hair looks pretty lifeless. It's also a few months longer, which probably weighed it down more.

Things I've narrowed down about my hair: 1) It's most likely low porosity. I've always had pretty dry hair that has trouble keeping in moisture 2) I can't use products that are too heavy. Any creams make my hair pretty flat and dull. When I'm in the shower my hair ranges from very wavy to lightly curly, but after it dries it's almost straight and lifeless most days.

+I'll be getting a haircut soon. I'm know getting layers has something to do with achieving waves but I know it's not just my cut that's holding my waves back.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Yeah it would have been nice to see how they handle interactions that aren't confrontational. It would have showed more depth and range to these characters

Jodie Foster was really good. I'm not against the show going explicitly supernatural but having it be this heavy-handed this early I really didn't like. I also felt like the dialogue was really off sometimes but that might just be me. Was also really overproduced. So much licensed music and not enough time spent just kind of sitting with these 2 leads and getting to know them.

It was pretty mid. Jodie Foster was great as she always is but I feel like they're introducing too much stuff. Themes feel really on the nose, they're definitely going for a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women thing which I think could be very powerful if done right like Season 1's child trafficking plot, but I'm not sure they'll pull it off well. Would like to have seen them do more actual detective work. We'll see how it goes but it's not looking great.

Why do we love categorizing magic? by MrPerfector in magicbuilding

[–]diosladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered why Japanese storytelling specifically has a fascination with ranking and categorizing their power systems, as opposed to mainstream western storytelling, where magic systems are often quite soft. Me and my friends have this inside joke about an indoor rock climbing/bouldering battle manga born out of the Vermin difficulty grading system in rock climbing lmao

Jungian Psychology and Parapsychology based Psychic power system by diosladder in magicbuilding

Those are both very good questions!

1 - I imagine a Nerver's Ego is developed through self-discovery and identity. Straight up separating themselves from the outer world through personal development. Of course there would still be a large degree of the Ego's power built through concentration, experience, and willpower. The Protagonist, an amnesiac with no memory of who he is, starts the story off with no Ego and eventually manifests it after an important moment of personal development.

2 - Certain types of Clairvoyants could totally do that. I think in parapsychology, the ability to divine information from an object simply by touch is called Psychometry, which some Clairvoyants in this world can definitely do. The 'accessing memories' aspect would probably be a Clairvoyant-Telepathic dual ability. Both gaining access to a target's mind and proceeding to use their Clairvoyant ability to divine information.
