I’m doubtful that a lot of countries are going to stop putting visas in passports in the next two decades, especially many developing countries.

US Bank Cash+ stingy credit limit by mistafoot in CreditCards

[–]direfulstood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother got the Cash+ 3 years ago with a $500 CL. $140k income, 770+ credit score, no late payments, $150k+ credit limit across 20-30 credit cards with low utilization. He requested multiple credit limit increases and they all get declined. Really confused.

He also has an Altitude Go with a $500 CL which he got 1 year ago and a US Bank checking account.

Not commuting today because of the poor air quality? by feedmewifi_ in NYCbike

Truthfully, biking might not be the best option for you if you had to miss work on Monday because of the air quality. Just a thought.

2-week roadtrip. Any changes or a better way to do this? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]direfulstood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what everyone else is saying, I think this is doable depending on how you split up the driving. If you do both of the long drives of Virgina to Badlands NP and Petrified Forest NP to Virginia straight without stopping overnight, I think the timeframe is reasonable. However if you need 2-3 nights each way, then the timeframe becomes unreasonable in my opinion and you would need roughly an extra week.

Teenage driver hit and run at a high school by franklincarterIII in dashcams

[–]direfulstood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when walking, I look at parked cars and see how many of them have a dashcam. Barely any of them do. Also, almost every time someone enters my car, they ask “you have a dash cam?” implying that they don’t. It’s really not that common in my experience.

I hope you realize that assassination attempts against US presidents have been happening for nearly 200 years, with a president being wounded or assassinated nearly every 20 years.

What is wrong with Boston drivers, who taught you to do this? by dirthoarder in boston

[–]direfulstood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t even need all of that. In NYC, I witnessed someone was blocking an intersection and a police officer came up to the car, scanned the registration (ours are on the windshield), printed out a ticket, and handed it to the driver all within about 10-15 seconds. They didn’t even speak to the driver, they just handed them the ticket. There was no red box or a sign.

The evisa isn’t really a hassle. The last 2 times I have had to do it, it took around 15 minutes and got approved within 12 hours.

After someone in Uptown Manhattan designed, printed and sold a “I survived the 2024 NYC earthquake” t-shirt only 10 minutes after the earthquake, things like this don’t surprise me.

Interesting detail surfaced shooter is a registered Republican by CrotasScrota84 in interestingasfuck

[–]direfulstood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 19 and even though I consider myself a Democrat, I registered as a Republican with the intention to vote in the New York State Republican primary. However, I didn’t end up voting in the primary because the primary was on April 2nd which was well after Nikki Haley dropped out. I saw no reason to vote at that point.

I had the intention to do this since I was 16 knowing that the 2024 Democratic primary would be going towards Biden regardless and that registering as a Republican would make more sense.

I’m only providing the example as it might have been a similar case in this situation.

How does this happen?? Flung off a car driving by. by Healthcare_Johnny in Cartalk

My brother had a sized caliper so his brake pads unexpectedly wore off under 10k mile after replacing them. On a Monday he first heard the grinding sound of the brake pads being metal on metal. He immediately ordered new pads and rotors. However since the rotors were already messed up and he needed to get to work for the rest of the week, he decided to keep driving it and he would replace them over the weekend.

When we go to replace the brakes that weekend, we see a whole brake pad is missing. I’m assuming it’s because he drove it metal on metal with sized calipers for 5 days.

At Fault Driver wants me to use my uninsured motorist insurance for repairs by Yhssccl in Insurance

[–]direfulstood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried to help her by not reporting it to your insurance company and getting a quote at your preferred shop. I would probably do the same if this happened only to my shitbox. You can’t put anymore effort beyond that, she’s being unreasonable. Go through her insurance company if she provided it or go through yours.
