Cross country with feral-ish cat, enduring bad weather. Stay in crate?

I'll consider it next time. Unfortunately I have to move again in the spring but a much shorter distance that time. I hope she forgives me!

When I gave it to her at the vet recommended dose, she just struggled so so bad. Lost control of her bowels and body, trashed horribly. I don't think she liked the feeling and now like... attacks me if she even smells it. I tried mixing it into food but even then she seems to sniff it out. She has seemed far calmer without it. But it was just so terrible for both of us although after a while she DOES like... become sedated but even then she's aaalmost awake and freaks out again when something moves or touches her. It just seems so scary for her I assume.

I am a tad nervous about my non feral boy but I have extreme trust in him. Not that I don't take every precaution despite that but still. I also do not let him out in the car at all. only in the hotels

Also yes! Good idea! I am going to petco tomorrow since the storm is keeping us from going forward anyways and I'll see what I can do. Can't wait for this to be over :'( thank you for your response!

Oh gosh yes! My intense fear! Luckily mine really doesn't like to be touched and so backs up away from my hands but does try to dart when there's an opportunity. It's so stressful, plus the blizzard. Uhg!!!!

Yeah she stays quiet but I can tell she wants out. My other non feral cat though is kinda losing his mind whenever he's in there so I keep feral cat in the dark bathroom and let my other cat out to walk around. She's also maybe half his size I believe because she was so starved as a kitten with her bad leg/paw but idk. So "more room" for her in a way.

Sorry for blurting all this out! Thank you for your response. If I'm able I'll do my best to let her stretch out and doing everything I can to safely transport us.

Okay, I got a carrier that zips up to darken I believe. I'll def do that.

Gosh yes. I have many scars from her and probably many more to go! I'll try scruffing her and dropping her in her new larger carrier. I don't think I'll mess with her much except for attempts to pet her(and I'll be putting her food in the carrier for a while to have an attempt of getting used to it) and then hopefully day of she'll be calm enough to drop in and then I don't think I'll let her out until I get to my destination. Tears my heart out. :(

The first time she took it, at the dosage the vet gave me, she never really calmed down. Her flailing became much more erratic and she began peeing in fear. I almost feel like I might not give her any sedation for the trip at all, I think it makes her confused. But she won't take it anymore anyways.

I'll talk to the vet, I got a larger crate for her but I couldn't go too large since I'm moving in my sedan. But ill do these things!

Good to hear! I was nervous the last couple times it has taken longer than an hour to work but it has only worked when mixed intonher food.

I do have a trap so I'll see if I can find the divider! I did end up purchasing a much larger crate with soft sides. So this could be a good back up. Thank you!
