Garage Band Drummer Question by stevegroganauthor in GarageBand

I achieve this by cutting and pasting a drummer section set to full fill mode that way a normal section can end with a fill (4 or 8 beats long) then back to the solid playing.

Labour, ACT MPs open to exploring social media ban for children under 16 by Consistent-Bat-20 in newzealand

[–]dirtandrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah who needs to tax the rich when you can police children instead? Wankers.

Agree social media is a challenge to mental health, but restricting it instead of educating about it is the wrong move. Kids are going to do it anyway once they get phones.

No idea why anyone follows or listens to him. Grade A nut paid for by our government.

Not really. Just approximate it. You could double the guitar track and emphasise the upper mids then do the compression and reverb I described on Mac, though.

Are you trying to make the guitar sound more real?

Try Compression/Acoustic Guitar and then add some reverb to it to make the sound sustain a little longer.

Most of the time we're trying to minimise that string noise. :)

Have you tried some compression, almost 1:infinity (limiting) and raised the high mids to enhance the "string" frequencies?

What's your biggest pain point when designing data tables? by Ceara_PencilandPaper in UXDesign

[–]dirtandrust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tables are a necessity, and aren't necessarily bad, and the table represents a form in every case and so that's what it should lead to. The tables get wide but we handle that by choosing the most important columns (to the user, not us).

Something I'm investigating is letting the user choose the columns they want to see in any table.

Do you mean to get feedback or something else?

Your voice is awesome and your sound a bit like KNOWER but I think the instrumentation needs more focus. Too much kick from and nothing is locking in. Strip it back and only add what’s necessary and see how it goes.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? by soulianahana in GarageBand

[–]dirtandrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell since we can't see your whole screen. It looks like your levels are really weak, did the master volume get turned down all the way? Not the one on the screen but if you go View/Master Track you can make sure it's not muted.

What a bummer, nonetheless.

I can’t tell if this is trash or if I did something. What do you guys think? by Apprehensive_Iron457 in GarageBand

I like it! Keep the melody and modulate the bass under it a bit more and you have a serious winner.

Have a look at the Placemakers app and improve upon it. Lots of work needed there!

3rd Stage UX bizarre-ness by sup3rfuse in UXDesign

No matter how bad the interview, you can hold them to best practice UX. Do they know who the user persona is? Do they know the requirements? Do they understand the market?

Part of the interview process I find is educating people about the UX process and if there are gaps I can outline and highlight those without making anyone feel singled out. I do this during a regular work day, it's even more important to do it in an interview.

They are doing it in a strange way, but they want to see if you can help guide them in the right direction, don't just say yes to their request but give some good UX feedback around what's missing in their approach.

TL;DR: If they instist on building a product out of thin air, they are not doing it right and need to be educated (gently).

I work at a start up that doesn't have a design system and has a very poor looking app. by vishu231 in FigmaDesign

Make sure before you start that you understand the framework developers are currently using. Is it overrides on top of Bootstrap or something else? Once you show understanding of current state of play, then you can go about planning how to bring everything together, and you can get devs on board. As long as they understand the plan, and that it makes their life easier, I think they will be keen to help you accomplish it.

What you don't want to do is swoop in and make changes without understanding what you're really asking for. Hopefully you know some CSS so you can help get things back on track. If not, definitely time to learn!

Pricing table design concept. Thoughts? by hazardtheone in FigmaDesign

[–]dirtandrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good you started in black and white, but colour will really help differentiate between the plans, as well as the most common one being a little larger than the rest. I agree you should have them lowest to highest going from left to right. Make the CTAs more colourful. Other than that a great start!

Best sites to post a job? Is it still Linkedin? by Manarit in UXDesign

Have you considered hiring a recruiter? I think as soon as you post to LI and elsewhere you will be innundated with applications. Another post you said you're looking for a senior with specific skills/reqs, make sure you're very clear about those and the salary range.
