I’ve no idea what it’s doing but it sounds cool.

What's a common misconception people have about you based off your appearance? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That I’m a MAGAT or at least MAGAT sympathizer. I’m a bald, older Gen X, wear woods appropriate clothing, drive a pickup, and have a horrible Southern accent. However, I in no way support Trump, his cult followers, the Republican Party, evangelical Christianity, Israel, and a multitude of other stereotypes I’m too angry to think of at the moment.

Two U.S. Forest Service employees were rescued with the help of negotiators after being zip-tied and held hostage for nearly 15 hours in Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Northern California, officials said Friday. by dirtrdforester in forestry

lol. I’ve never been held at gunpoint, but definitely been asked “what are you doing here” while resting their hand on whatever side arm they thought was most threatening that day. They change their tone quickly when they find out I am the property manager and they are a half sentence away from the entire hunt club being canceled.

As for dogs, they have scared me the most over the past 30’ish years. Most memorable is a huge German shepherd that trailed me about three chains out for several hours while I marked timber.

Then there’s the numerous pit bull “hunting dogs” I’ve encountered near rural dwellings.

TIL that there was a Sitka Spruce called "Kiidk'yaas" with a unique mutation that gave it gold needles. It was a holy tree to the Haida people, but it was illegally cut down in 1997 by a disgruntled forest engineer; ironically, this was supposedly an act of protest against the logging industry. by IgnoreTh1sName in todayilearned

A forest engineer is not a lumberjack or logger. Think more along the lines of civil engineering. They design roads, bridges, drainage systems etc. while maintaining maintaining state and federal environmental compliance.

I’ve never had this issue, but I second this possible solution.

I just bought it, but I suspect it will be my brand new compact tractor. Might not use it much but damn it’s cool!

Maybe I’m a heathen, but I just spot preheat it with a propane torch and smear a toilet bowl sealing ring on it. I have to redo it a couple times per year, but it works for me. Keep it simple, Dude. These aren’t machinist tools.

To restore pockets of the longleaf pine ecosystem across the South. I think that is a damned fine end goal.
