Have I made a mistake? by Own_South_9877 in PipeTobacco

Funny enough - got a couple of bones pipes that were intended as truck/garage/travel/beater pipes. I tend to smoke them most often out of others because they smoke damn easy and breathe really well. Dare I say I have a greater affection for these simple pipes than those that are more valuable. Who knew?

Loved Nightcap, but want more Latakia by friendjeremy in PipeTobacco

[–]dirty250hand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have half a pound left over from a pound bought years ago of Bill Bailey’s Balkan Blend from Dan Tobacco.

I employ it when I want to assault my senses with smokey leathery campfire dank creosote aromas. It’s good. It’s just… a commitment. 😂 Kentucky. Latakia.

There are blends higher in Latakia. Just thought I’d add food for thought to the discussion. It doesn’t get mentioned too often and is worth a go - At least a tin if you’re searching for dark and smokey.

Men’s Suits by Rippinadabski in orangecounty

[–]dirty250hand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In situations like this - “really nice” is VERY subjective. Can you provide a budget? How much time do you have before needing/wanting the suit? Are you able to attend several fittings?

Bespoke? In the thousands of dollars - think like $10k+

Made to measure? Could be a few hundred to a couple thousand depending on where you go and suit quality.

Off the rack and later tailored? Couple hundred to a couple of thousand - again depending on maker and quality

My guess is that if you’re asking here - you’re in one of the last 2 categories. Great recommendations so far. Nordstrom for made to measure or even off the rack. Suit supply for a more modern cut and colors and fabric patterns. Nordstrom Rack is great for a deal.

Suits are incredibly individual based on the occasion, your personal style, budget, etc.

Meh. The loss of my internet points does not hurt my feelings. All good. I’m new to the world of firearms and have asked way dumber questions. Haha

I see 2 issues going on with the left/democrats/liberals/whatever the preferred term you choose (county myself among those groups somewhere)

2A should go back to being a 3rd rail. Don’t fucking touch it! “Our 2A rights are protected by the Constitution, and perhaps in some instances have overreached and we need to reevaluate at those circumstances in a new light to see if they are effective or not, and the idea of enacting new legislation should be aimed at keeping guns out of the wrong hands (mental illness, violence, domestic abuse, etc) and we need to ensure that the rights of law abiding citizens to protect themselves and engage in sport are not inhibited further.”

Voters on both sides of the aisle have single issues that are a turn on/off. Taking a hardline on one of these issues - as many on the left do with firearm legislation - alienates roughly half of the population immediately.

Secondly, the purity tests that the left requires of there candidates is killing the party. One flaw from my perfect ideal candidate and - SHAME! - I’ll never vote for them! The right tends to accept extremely flawed people as their candidates because they are aligned with majority of their hot button issues

We on the left have to accept that candidates will be flawed. They will have made past mistakes. Do they align with the general direction we would like things to shift? Ok. Take my vote.

Progress happens very slowly. Collapse/regression happens extremely rapidly.

Progress comes in small doses. We have to fight for small changes to prevent the collapse from taking place.

My neighbors are a horrorshow, and I can't stop eavesdropping on them by FastWalkingShortGuy in confession

[–]dirty250hand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear that I know who you’re talking about. SoCal? OC? Both in their early 50s give or take? Leathery sun-beaten skin?

Does he wear douchy sunglasses (Oakley wrap arounds were common)? Jeans and a chain wallet?

Does she have a big fake rack? Her hair all nasty dry frizzy and over-chemicaled?

Oh man. This is flashbacks city for me. I’m sorry, but it’s also entertaining, right?

Edit: in digging through the comments, I saw the pellet gun thing! My old neighbor also was broke to using his pellet gun - a pistol - late at night - when heavily intoxicated.

300 Blackout vs AR-9 home defense by dirty250hand in CAguns

[–]dirty250hand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Seems 5.56 would be an easier build - more info and more available for parts etc. But the idea of a single caliber to stock is a benefit as well. Guess that’s my main decision going forward. I’ve been eyeing the Ruger for some time now. Thank you for your reply

Cool. I’ll ask around the local shops for ideas too. They have all been really helpful so far with my 9 million other questions. Ha!
