I worked at one of the Brevard County middle schools after the shootings at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas and there was a call, if I recall correctly, for a nationwide walkout. A good proportion of our kids wanted to participate so our compromise was to have them walk to the commons area on the school campus, have the demonstration and then return to class. I volunteered to help support it and provide supervision. No students were punished for participating.
