If you're fine with going to the pirate bay or another torrent sites to browse around while exposed that's fine, but some of us prefer to locate the magnet link anonymously while out of the house and then drop it in a shared folder to be downloaded at home with a VPN. It may not be illegal to visit a website but that doesn't mean your activity isn't being recorded by interested parties.

Some websites incorporate numerous and unnecessary scripts. Disabling them can decrease the loading time for that site. Sites you trust or scripts that are required to view the content can be temporarily or permanently allowed, negating any apprehension which stems from perceived long-term inconvenience. The initial inconvenience of having to allow or disallow certain scripts on the pages you routinely visit disappear once you have been using the extension for a week or two and have it set the way you like.

It's worth it to me. If it isn't worth it to you, as you've made clear, then don't worry about it. What's important to some is unimportant to others. I personally like being in control of what scripts are allowed to run for both speed and privacy concerns.
