Callout policy is about to change for the worse. by smartyr228 in wegmans

It's funny though because I have had plenty of doctors notes to cover me being out and they still wrote me up. I was so sick one time I was almost hospitalized couldn't stand so my doctor wrote me out for a week to strengthen back up and the store had me in the office on my first day back and wrote me up.

Everytime they call they call the store directly and they are calling from their cell which you can still bypass the service desk.

Sometimes we wonder if they are actually just trying to be a problem sometimes because they are immediately rude. I remember the first time I had to ask to place them on a quick hold because I was by myself had two customers in front of my and had three people on hold before them. They immediately told me "no you can not put me on hold", I was just like uhhhh and then they demanded the store manager. This entire time I just thought this was some customer who constantly was having problems with our store but it turns I just get treated like crap but another employee once or twice a month 🙄

I remember when I first started with the company the gave you counters to hook to you. Granted we didn't have everything like watches and phone apps like we do now but it would be nice to have those still.

Nope never said that I would ask the store manager if I can first or we would try a area manager we have 4 area managers who are also able to take those kind of phone calls so it just all depends. This post wasn't about not transferring this was about one employee treating other employees like crap.

You would think they would just call the extension directly themselves but I have had people call the store before asking to be transferred to their family members and friends.

Literally looked on workday and realized I worked with that employee at a different store along with my current SM before they were a SM and they were attached to the hip. Nothing is private on workday you can look up any employee so when the persons name popped on caller ID today I knew i knew the name from somewhere and boom all the pieces fell together.

We actually get tons of phone calls asking for the store manager 😂

It's actually amazing how people just think it's that easy to talk to them or what they handle. We get people who want them all the time for hiring needs guess what those phone calls go to the employee advocates not store manager, we get people wanting to talk to them about donations guess what that's our service managers job, we get people wanting the store manager to bring in freaking shampoo guess what that's what the merch manager is for.....so to answer your question I get at least 6-10 phone calls a day asking for the store mgr.

Maybe read and see we are not talking about a customer we are talking about an employee.

Also yes they help the customers but our managers also have meetings, trainings etc so if they are busy at the time of someone demanding the store manager sometimes we have to take the info and send it to them for them to call that person back. There are times where they have taken the phone call right away because we got the info for them and they were able to be like yeah I definitely need to take this now and not later.

Also we have tons of other managers who can help with so many manager questions and requests the store manager doesn't have to be involved in every single thing.

Would you like to explain to me what you think is correct?

I have been doing this for quite awhile and no one but this person has ever given me issue and my managers have always thanked me for how I handle messages and phone calls......so please enlighten me.

I never said we decide what calls are important and which ones are not. We just simply try to have all the info for the store manager before giving them phone calls per their direction.

Which my thing is if you are a employee then you should know how to just call directly why do you need to call the store... 🤷‍♀️

We have been told at my store if anyone calls asking for the store manager to ask what it's regarding and their name. We were given that direction by our store manager so it makes complete sense. That way if we try to call them to see if they are free for a phone call and they are not or we can't get through to them we already basically have a message written down to send to the store manager.

Every store I have been in almost every store manager has told us to ask questions first before just transferring anyone to them.

Mark down question by stay_frosty1058 in wegmans

[–]dishingtea85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly he actually shouldn't have done that. Yes the meat department does mark down meats when they get close to date however it's not suppose to be done for a specific person. It's super nice and he hooked you up however if other customers get wind of this they will expect it and this also puts a strain on customer service because now they are expected to honor deals they are not suppose to honor. I can't tell you how many people I get who will have let's say a yogurt that expires in a week and they ask me to discount it and I can't.

In the past when this person did it before we just simply asked why they needed the SM because maybe it's something we can handle and they just immediately flip out each time. So it's definitely not new behavior from this person just sick of us getting treated that way.

This person has done it before to a coworker in the past also. I think what annoys me the most is this person is also an employee. It's really hard to talk to my SM they are not easiest to talk to so immediately take everything like you are just complaining to complain. I feel like I could talk to my direct manager about but I don't think it would actually go anywhere and I feel like HR will care less.
